Her Life
August 11, 2015

Mrs. Joyce McLemore Parker-Brewer, the daughter of the late Ulysses (Sr.) and Mary Edna Walton McLemore, was born July 15, 1947 in Lanett, AL. She departed this life on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the EAMC-Lanier, Valley, AL.

Joyce was a long time and dedicated member of the St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, AL. She was a member of the General Missionary Society, where she had served as chairperson of the Nurses' Guild Auxiliary.

She was a member of the Lanier High School Class of 1965. After high school she continued her education and earned a nursing degree from LaGrange College, LaGrange, GA.

After paying her dues on the hospital staff at George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital, Joyce became a valued member of Dr. Joseph Downs’ private practice staff for over 20 years. She provided expert care and compassion to all patients that she tended, until her health no longer allowed. Always the nurturer, she assisted those that knew her.

Joyce was an avid reader and enjoyed it thoroughly. She could spend her entire day reading a great novel.

Joyce was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, nurse, cancer survivor and a friend to many whom she came in contact with.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Nathaniel Brewer, Lanett, AL; son, Gregory Hill, Birmingham, AL; daughter, Sonji (Herbert) Willingham, Ft. Knox, KY; grandchildren, Tamaris Joy Hill, Christopher and Corey Willingham; her siblings, Samuel McLemore, Roslyn”Niecy” (Willie “Lee Buck”) Murry, and Ulysses McLemore, Jr. all of Lanett, AL; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from all walks.
