Her Life

Some basics

November 16, 2012

Judy was born on to Frank and Bernice Newton on June 27, 1945 in Medford, MA. She had one sister, Susan. She also lived in Ohio and Pennsylvania as a child, and in New Hampshire, Kentucky and Massachusetts as an adult. She began to work as a journalist in high school when she wrote a teen column for the Trenton Times. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in journalism. Judy worked as a journalist, an editor, a teacher of English and Poetry in a men's prison, a counselor at a halfway house for women with addictions, and most recently an administrative assistant at the University of Pennsylvania. She died on November 15, 2012, after an eight month battle with cancer. She fought until the last two days, when she slowly started slipping away from us. Her last hours were peaceful, she was kept comfortable, and was not alone. Judy is survived by her daughters, her sister, and their families.

Judy's life was complex and she moved in many circles. Please share chapters from your life with her.
