Judith Eaken Boucher, 75, was born in Birmingham, AL, the daughter of Col Jack Eaken and Olivia Ozier Eaken. She spent her school years in various states and Germany, graduating from the University of Miami in 1961 (in Geography and Math). She joined her family in Rome, Italy, where her father was assigned to the U.S. Embassy. Put under contract by 20th Century Fox, she worked in the movie, “Cleopatra”. After that, she worked for ITT, where she met her future husband, John, a native of Queens, NYC. Married in 1963, they transferred from Rome to Athens, Greece, where their daughter Mari was born in 1964. After two years in Frankfurt, Germany, they returned to the U.S. and spent 9 months at Cape Canaveral. John accepted a position at the Apollo Tracking Station on Guam and their daughter Elizabeth was born there in 1967. They remained on Guam for 14 years, where Judy returned to school to become an elementary school librarian. She helped start libraries at various elementary schools and continued for six years. She then went back to school to earn a masters degree in painting, having originally started in that field at U of M. In 1981 the family left Guam, when John accepted a position in Colombia, South America. After Judy’s diagnosis of metastatic triple negative BR CA, they moved to Ft Myers in 1989, where she was active in various art leagues. In 2007, Judy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and has been under treatment since that time. She is survived by her husband, John, daughters Mari (George Cleveland) and Elizabeth (Steven Law), grandchildren John and Lilly Cleveland and Katherine and Christopher Law, all of the Atlanta area. Her family in Alabama and Virginia are sisters Jackie (Bill Briscoe), Shirley (Steve Hammond), Barbie (Eddie Allen), half-brother Drew Eaken (Stephanie), nieces and nephews and aunt Mildred Ozier Harris.
