Mrs. Booker was born in Lake City, Florida on March 31, 1952, the daughter of the late Odessa Owens Nelson and Fred Nelson. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. For many years she was a loving foster mother. The children that she served along with her own son Shad, were very fortunate to have her love and wonderful care. The impact she made on each of their lives will remain close to each of their hearts. She will long be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by one son, Shad Douglas (Crystal) and four beloved grandchildren, Taylor, Ashley, Caitlyn, and Austin Douglas all of LaGrange, GA.; her dear companion of three years, Patrick Gordon of Franklin, GA.; friend for over thirty years, Brenda Teal also of Franklin; her very special dog,”Precious”; and a host of adoring foster children.
