Her Life

The life of Julia Urias

August 19, 2016

Julia Soqui Urias (Julie)

What is the spice of life, if not true grit? Julia Soqui Urias, 92 years young, left this realm to be received by her Maker with joy and jubilation on August 13, 2016. She was born in Miami, Arizona on July 19, 1924 to Maria Lopez and Pedro Soqui.

Julia will be beaming with light and love to be back in the presence of her beloved sons, David and Daniel, whom preceded her in death. Julia tended to her sons and daughters with firmness and directness, preparing them and all who came to know her for the realities of life. She was a true example of self reliance and independence. While, her then husband, Jesus served his country overseas, Julia joined other women that are known as “Rosie the Riveter” out in Goodyear Airport. She also brought joy to many a senior as an event planner and organizer at Chicanos por la Causa. She was always a hit as Santa’s Helper! Julia loved to spend time with her family and friends. She made the most delicious tortillas and menudo known by many. One attribute that we will remember her by is the way her eyes would light up the darkest night when she smiled and laughed with mirth.

Julia is survived by her daughters, Diane Nunez, Denise Milsap and her son Derek Urias (Brenda). Grandchildren: Stephanie Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Sina Urias, Evangelina Urias, Derek Urias, Brandon Urias (Christine), Michael Milsap , Cortez Milsap and Great Grandson, Duke Urias.

They just don’t make them like Julia anymore-truly one of a kind! Julia Soqui Urias, you will be missed!
