“Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why, No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. For those who follow godly paths will rest in peace when they die”

Isaiah 57: 1 – 2

Olukemi Yewande Owolabi was born on November 3, 1960 to Mr. Johnson Adeniji and Mrs. Ayo Adeniji in Lagos, Nigeria. She died on September 16, 2012 and is survived by a loving husband and two beautiful children, mother, sisters, brothers and friends.

Kemi attended St. Mary’s Primary School in Lagos from 1965 to 1971. For her secondary school education, she attended St. Anne’s School in Ibadan, Nigeria from 1972 to 1976, and Fed. Govt College, Odogbolu for her H.S.C. Upon graduation, she attended Medical University, Sofia Bulgaria, where she earned an M.B in medicine & married the love of her life, Olufemi Owolabi on November, 20, 1984. She gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Olufunmilola Owolabi in January, 1985 and their second child, a son, Olaleke Owolabi in February, 1987. Kemi and her husband had a Medical practice which they ran for several years in Lagos, Nigeria. It was Kemi’s dream to move to the United States so the entire family moved to California in May, 2002. Kemi was the anchor that kept the family together. Kemi first worked at a health care agency then she got her teaching credentials from National University and worked as a Special Ed teacher at Bursch Elementary School for seven years.

Kemi was loving, caring, hardworking, selfless, funny, compassionate, affectionate, energetic and outgoing. She was a God-fearing woman & truly special.  She was beautiful on the inside and out. She touched a lot of people’s lives by always putting others before herself and showing compassion to everyone she came in contact with. Most importantly, she always put God first in everything that she did. She loved the Lord and was a great woman of God. With God’s grace, she was able to convert most of her husband’s Muslim family to spirit- filled Christians. In addition, she was an active member of her church; she went on evangelical missions and served in the children’s church.

Our sweet Angel, saying that we will miss you is a gross understatement. We will always carry you in our hearts and your legacy will never be forgotten. May your gentle soul rest in peace till we meet again. We love you so much but God loves you more.
