O'l Fishing Buddy

August 29, 2012

I worked with Ken in Redding, because he fished we hit it right off, He said he did not know where to fish around redding and I live on shasta lake.we were instant fishing buddies, It seems after that when ever Ryan and I would go to Iron Canyon he would be sitten in Menkveld cove, That's what we called it after the third time we saw him there, then Eagle Lake, after we started meeting for three days every october  just the three of us, for the first three years the last year there were seven of us so the last few years he fished with me,I enjoyed hours fishing and our conversations  he also had stayed at the house every time he interviewed here in District 2 I looked foward to his phone calls,  He would greet me on the phone "mr. Boy yey" he tried to act like he was talking French! I will miss that  I went striper fishing in the Delta 5 or 6 times with him, when he was in yuba city. and he tried to come up and fish every chance he got. I know he is scouting out the fishing holes I hope he leaves some for us. God  Bless Ken, and now he has a cove named in his honor,at Iron Canyon . Please come visit.   Redgy

Good though

August 14, 2012

One summer when I was about 12, I was staying with my dad in Kelseyville. I would occasionally get up early and have "kid coffee" with him before he went to work. One such morning, I padded sleepily into the kitchen and sat down. He made me some kid coffee, and asked if I wanted breakfast. I nodded. He presented me with a half a cantaloupe, with some milk and cereal poured into the hole where the seeds had been. I looked questioningly at him, and he shrugged and said, "We're out of clean bowls."  He joined me at the table, and I nodded and took a bite.  It wasn't milk in my cereal. It was half-and-half. I looked over to see him watching me eat, looking very amused with himself. He grinned and said, "We're out of milk, too." I shrugged and ate it anyway. It wasn't half bad.
