Kenny, I remember more than anything your easy smile that sent a sparkle straight to your eyes. Talking through the old pics the day we spent scanning brought up so much...but mostly your love for your sweet mom. I know you've found her in heaven.

Ken was always a carefree and nice guy. I always remember trying to pay him back for small things, and never would he accept payment from me always saying that I had helped him so much that he couldn't take the money. We will miss you, Ken!

You were truly a kindred spirit, you will be missed. All you wanted was to move back to your hometown, buy a piece of land and settle down close to your first love, your family. I would always remember fondly our bike & restaurant trips. RIP bud!

Some fun memories :)

April 5, 2011

Ken was such a fun guy--he was a party animal at heart but also loved to work.

A few things I remember: He and I going to the Habanero contest at Prince of Wales and him throwing up because he thought he was a tough guy and could handle it :)

He was one of our premier cooks at all of the Sun events he went to--and his food was great!

When I would visit him at the Bay Area hospitals he ended up in, we'd talk the whole time I was there.  Loved how no matter what he was always up for a good rousing conversation!

He introduced me to a great Mexican restaurant, La Pinata, and I'll always remember that because of him I now like fish tacos :)

When his leg was the worst! he would take pics of it with his cell phone and post them--YUCK!  I used to always tell him that grossed me out, and he would just laugh at me :)

I'll miss his friendship and am very glad we were friends.

Ken's Fav CNA

April 3, 2011

One thing i always noted about Ken was that he always seemed positive. Even when he was suffering thru pain, he would rather talk about something nice to think about.

One story which illustrates that is when he was recovering from his first foot surgery in that nursing home on Mowry Av in Fremont. Whenever we goto visit him, he would show lots of interest in the magazines that we brought for him to read. When his foot was about healed and he was begenning to go physical therapy to get them working again, he seemed to always talk not about the pain, rather the cute CNA who was working with him. We actually thought there was something there, but dismissed it our overactive imagination, desparate to think about something positive in Ken's life. Yet, later (once he was in Pheonix with John & Co IIRC) he even sent me the photos of that CNA (he must have taken them when he was in Fremont), now she WAS/IS cute!!

[I am uploading her photos, i think that would be OK....]

Sometimes it is saddening to think what might have been, but then you also realize that Ken, even in his bad time, reached out and connected postively with someone new.

That was Ken!
