First day of School with Mommy

September 1, 2014

This picture was taken on Jennie's first day of school (1st Grade) at ICS (Ms. Vicky Santos) August 17, 2011, this would be the last year that Kennie would take her beautiful baby girl to her first day. Today, September 1, 2014 was our first weekend visit with Jennie after starting 4th grade at Ramirez Elem in Edinburg. Kennie taught 4th grade and would have been a beautiful team, Mommy teaching her daughter, something she always looked forward too. But Kennie didn't need to teach Jennie at school, the 7 years God gave her with her child was enough time to teach her the values in life. No matter what happens in her life she will always remember right from wrong and will follow the road that was set for her. We will always be there to continue with what Kennie wanted for Jennie. Always in Our Hearts.

Even the Hair

December 8, 2013

Kennie was born bald, then the most beautiful curls started growing and they never stopped growing until she was bald again, this time due to chemo. But Kennie didn't care it was only hair, well her curls were back and as beautiful as always no matter what she did to her hair, she was beautiful, Now Jennie looks more like her mommy, long hair, short hair or no hair at all, it can never be changed, curls and freckles are there to stay. Today Jennie was taken to Sunday Mass by her Tata and Yaya and not one person didn't compliment her (as beautiful as her mommy). Kennie only you knew how it worked, didn't you? Keep your eyes on your baby girl, like you always have. Only God knows... We Love you....

Thinking of you and Jennie

November 11, 2013

Veteran's Day was always such a special day for you and Jennie to honor your Tata on this day. We know you are so proud of Tata and we know that Jennie will one day be with Tata again. They can take her away from us, but they can NEVER take her love away, no matter how hard they try. Time is flying by. We love and miss you Kennie.

Roman Kenny turns 9 months today

October 21, 2013

Kennie, Jennie and Roman Kenny sharing some wonderful time together. Today he turns 9 months. We show him pictures and videos of you everyday, he will grow up loving you, even if you will never physcially meet him, we know that God sent him to us with your approval. Jennie also remembers you every minute of the day, there can never be anyone like you, the only real mommy she will ever have. Jennie is a strong girl that 7 years with you will not ever change her, no matter how hard they try. Like you always said, it's not the quantity of time but the quality. You can take a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink it....lol... Love and miss you lots.

A Cat?

September 28, 2013
There is not set time limit to grieving. It’s not something that can be measured in terms of time spent; rather it is measured in the intensity of feeling, at any given time. From a friend-------Let me tell you a story, about our dear cat, Mittens. He passed away, after a lengthy illness, on Memorial Day weekend, of 2007. I was honored to provide him with loving hospice care during his last weeks, and was more than prepared for his last breath. But, as I near the first anniversary of his death, I still am stunned by the depth of feeling: I miss him so much! And, I know you’re saying… “For heaven’s sake, he was just a cat.” That’s true. But he was my companion for ten years. I have no idea when I’ll be ‘through’ with grieving for Mittens. And, you have no idea when you’ll be truly done with grieving your own loss. But, for each of us, there will come a day when we don’t think about our loved one in quite the same way. We’ll be able to smile more easily, to laugh when a memory surfaces, instead of feeling like we’ve been cut with a knife. ----------you lost a daughter, sister, mommy, granddaughter, niece, and a friend...not a cat..... What is needed is the faith, the inner belief, which grants us the serenity of knowing there will be an end to this erratic pain we call “grief.” Quotation for the Day One cannot tell when he is going to be healed, so do not try to set an exact time limit. Faith, not time, will determine when the cure will be effected. ~ Paramahansa Yogananda

How Deep is Our Scar?

September 15, 2013

A cut finger is numb before it bleeds; it bleeds before it hurts, it hurts until it begins to heal; it forms a scab and itches until finally, the scab is gone and a small scar is left where once there was a wound.Grief is the deepest wound you will ever have. Like a cut finger, it goes through stages, and leaves a scar.
That is what grief leaves behind: the invisible, yet ever present mark left  by the loss of a loved one.

Jennie's first day of school at ICS last year

August 25, 2013

A true smile.

Sometimes horrible things happen, like the death of a parent or loved one, divorce or dealing with economical situations that change a child’s living condition, but these things need to be dealt with by adults, not by the children.

Parents should always put their children first, to ensure they are all right and that their life is affected as little as possible.

Parents job is to provide a warm smile every day of your child’s life, fill his world with encouraging words, listen to him and be there to make him feel safe.

Every circumstance regardless of how sad or difficult can always be dealt with when a family sticks together.

Whenever I am worried about something I always think back to my parents and everything they went through and it puts everything in perspective.

Being sad around your children is OK, making their life sad 24 hours a day, is not. Your job is to shield them and fight for their happiness first, the adults come in second.

JENNIE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST IN OUR LIFE.
YOUR MOMMY IS WATCHING YOU AND COVERING YOU WITH HER BEAUTIFUL WINGS FOR PROTECTION.
YOU ALWAYS CAME FIRST WITH HER.
GOD WILL KEEP SATAN AWAY FROM YOU.

Jennie & grandpa Tata

August 25, 2013

Jennie & tata at home. There are 5 of these pictures for Jennie to see as she grows up into a beautiful and kind woman, just like her mommy was. There are 14 of her mommy and her tata too. Each one of these 19 were for their first day of each school year. They are now both in Tata's heart, one day they will all be together again.

GOD WINS EVERY TIME!!!!!!

June 6, 2013

Kennie, Thank you for sending thousands of guardian angels for this battle but we shall win the war.

The Whole Armor of God Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and as shoes for your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Kennie, continue covering your beautiful baby with your beautiful angel wings  and we know that the devil does not have a clue what power GOD has that he has to invent lies and vulgarity.

WE LOVE YOU KENNIE.

Releasing the butterflies

April 14, 2013

Jennie and Nena releasing the butterflies up to her Mommy in Heaven. The Alaniz-Pena families whispered wishes and thoughts to the butterflies and released them so that they could fly up to Kennie. Kennie is so proud of Jennie. For the seven years she taught her about life and love will not ever be forgotten.

Thank you all of Kennie's friends and family, This private family ceremony turned out beautiful just like Kennie.

God Bless all you beautiful people that were there to show that for the last short 12 months, you have honored Kennie's memories and her name with all the respect and love she well deserved. Your love to her was so great that it was not buried with her, but it has and will continue forever.

Kennie continue to send your beautiful blessings to us all.

We will all soon see you again.

Missing her Mommy

April 14, 2013

Jennie and one of her best friends, Nena. Jennie read this beautiful poem for her Mommy.

As I release these butterflies in honor of my mommy,

Know that she is with you and will always be.

Hold a hand,

say a prayer,

close your eyes and see her there.

Although you may feel a bit torn apart,

Please know that she will be forever in your heart.

Now fly away butterflies as high as you can go,

Mommy is right there with you more than you know.

Like a butterfly emerges and unfolds its graceful wings,

a child grows and develops with the love a mother brings.

I’m thankful for the times when you encouraged me to try.

For God gave me my wings.

But, Mom, you taught me how to fly.

WE ALL LOVE YOU MOMMY.

April 1 2012

April 2, 2013

Took Jennie to Palm Sunday on April 1, 2012, Kennie was too tired to go but after we got home Jennie and Kennie made a cross with the palms we brought from the service. This is a picture Kennie took from her bed and posted it on her facebook. Found it today. Kennie thank you for loving us so much. Even though I no longer have your facebook active, I will have it for Jennie to see it when she is old enough to see that you had it for her and not for yourself. Like always Kennie, it was never about you, that is why you are in Heaven where people like you belong. JENNIE WILL ALWAYS BE YOU BECAUSE YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN HER. We miss you and love you so much.

Roman Kenny is here

January 22, 2013

Kennie, your first nephew is here, Roman Kenny arrived yesterday, I know you probably knew before us here and what he looks like. Your little angel came to see him today, she was so excited just like you would have been. I know that you and Pamo are celebrating in heaven this beautiful occasion. We love & miss you very much. Jennie remembers so many stories about you two together and misses you very much. Keep her covered with your angel wings.

Always a giving person

December 12, 2012

Kennie, today I had a stranger ask me if you were my daughter. She told me that her nephew was in your second grade class. As soon as he found out that you had gone with our Lord, he ran to his closet and took out a blue jacket that no longer fit him, he placed it in a bag and taped it up and started to cry. He told her that it was cold one day at school and he didn't have one, so at lunch time you went to the store and bought him one and that he never wanted to get rid of it. KENNIE, these are stories that your beautiful baby girl, JENNIE, will always have from you. Your family will always make sure that your spirit will live on forever. Like you always said, you wanted to leave a mark in this life, you sure did. We Love You.

Kennie's Grandparents

November 28, 2012

Kennie, I know that Pamo greeted you when you arrived home. He was the best grandpa in the world for you. I know that both of you are laughing especially at some of us down here. I know with all the pain and suffering here on earth, you now live with nothing but love and happiness with our Lord. Kennie and Pamo, Jennie and Pama miss you very much. One day Jennie will grow up with all the love and respect that you showed her in seven short years you two were together, nothing and no one will ever take that away from you. Those that truely love you will continue to love you without excuses, your spirit will live forever.

Kennie's "Mini Me"

November 19, 2012

I have been scanning thousands, and I mean thousands of pictures and videos of Kennie since her passing and I am no where close to finishing. I try to do at least 50 each weekday. These are the beautiful memories that Jennie will grow up with of her mommy. The videos where she will see and hear her voice and the rodeos where she would yell at those horses and calves. I just scanned this picture of Kennie when she was 7 years old, clowning around. Those that knew her and now know Jennie, is it "mini Kennie" or what?

Veteran's Day

November 12, 2012

Yesterday, Veteran's Day was a very sad day for Tata, this was his first Veteran's Day without his beautiful first born daughter, Kennie. Kennie was the first one to have something for her Daddy for his special day. She was also the one who would prepare a program for her baby girl's school for all the veterans, her and her best friend, Brenda. She is now celebrating in heaven with our Lord and sending thousands of blessings to all of us, especially Jennie. Kennie, we miss you so much and your family will never forget you. Sending you lots of Love and Kisses with our daily thoughts and prayers. Don't worry your baby girl will be just fine. God is with her always.

Touched by an Angel,

November 7, 2012

  We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

To Kennie, who showed us Love....

Kennie: A True Cowgirl

November 7, 2012

Kennie grew up around horses, she was on the back of a horse before she even began to walk.  She was never afraid and was willing to ride any horse her Daddy would bring home. She began competing in Jr. High and only stopped to her pregnancy with Jennie, then because of her illness. Her dream was to ride at the NFR and now she is riding the best horses in the best arena ever. Like you always said, if I'm going to ride, I'm gonna ride hard. Love you Kennie.

Kennie, Jennie & Jessica at Baby Shower
