PFC KIMBLE HAN U.S. Army U.S. Army Pfc. Kimble A. Han, 30, a combat engineer, lost his life in Kandahar, Afghanistan, Oct. 23, 2009. He was assigned to the 569th Mobility Augmentation Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, out of Fort Carson, Colo. Kimble was a soldier with unwavering determination to proudly serve his country, even as he gave his all, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Kimble, the son of Bill and Lisa Han, was born Aug. 17, 1979, in Gold Beach, Ore., and resided in Nevada, Washington, Colorado and Utah before entering the military. He had a zest for life, a great love for his family, and a desire to serve his country with honor. Kimble was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed the outdoors. He adored his wife, Melissa Lund; and his three new sons, Brenden, Austin and Caleb. They were married Jan. 16, 2009, and were looking forward to their future together. Kimble's family is grateful for the time they had together during his two-week leave in August, and will always remember the love and laughter they shared. Kimble was preceded in death by his father, William S. Han; grandmother, Kathleen Kalteich; and grandfather, William E. Han. Kimble is survived by his wife, Melissa; and three stepsons, Brenden, Austin and Caleb, all of Las Vegas; mother and stepfather, Lisa and Paul Barnes of Saratoga Springs, Utah; two brothers, Jerod (Belinda) Han of Lehi, Utah, and Logan Han of Saratoga Springs; five sisters, Malea (Jeremy) Lyons of Dickinson, N.D., Brittany (Greg) Campbell of Medford, Ore., Alyssa Han of Saratoga Springs, Hayley Han of Provo, Utah, and Natalie Brooks of Saratoga Springs; stepsister, Alexia Barnes of Saratoga Springs; nephews, Trentyn and Hunter; nieces, Aubrey, Lacey, Jentry and Lora; grandparents, Cuddy and Mary Ellen White of Brookings, Ore.; in-laws, David and Sheryl Lund of Las Vegas; as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other relatives. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people, both friends and strangers, that have offered their love, prayers and support. God Bless America and protect our soldiers. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m., at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Bluffdale, Utah.
