Larry's Obituary for the World Newspaper

A celebration of life will be held for Larry Scott McIntosh, 62, of Coos Bay, at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Coney Station, 295 South Broadway in Coos Bay.

Larry was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Portland, to Howard and Helen McIntosh. He passed away peacefully Sept. 17, 2012, in Roseburg.

Larry graduated from North Bend High School in 1968. While in high school, Larry worked for Coos Head Lumber. Larry then served from 1968 to 1972 in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge, he returned to work at Coos Head Lumber where he worked for 32 years. He then worked another 12 years for Lumbermens/ProBuild. Larry was respected by the many contractors and friends he served. Larry received Lumbermen’s prestigious Top Gun Sales Award in 2006 – a national honor bestowed on only 13 sales reps each year. The award slogan, “Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there,” exemplified Larry’s work ethic.

Larry enjoyed golf, fishing, clam digging, camping, and bird hunting with his dog, Lucky.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nancy McIntosh; brother, Howard McIntosh Jr. of Alameda, Calif.; aunt, Thelma Hiveley of Nebraska;and many friends including, Don and Cheryl Garrett, Bob and Sue Jenkins, John and Rosie Hamilton, Steve and Sharon Jones, Dan and Ermie Goodrich, Dave and Jan Morin, John and Gary Calhoun, Larry Taylor and Ken Willsey.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard McIntosh Sr.; and his mother, Helen McIntosh.
