why my moms the best

June 28, 2014
Well I have never thought my mom would go so quick. But I guess god needed her help. So why I think my mom is the best is cause she Had raised and taught me the things and made Everyone laugh. And I remember the day when she Hung out with me and my buddy and Listen to me sing then the day she.had a Christmas Party to go to with my dad and when they got home My mom was a bit tipsy and my dad was So hamnered he couldnt even make his own eggs And I had to make his eggs for him. Then my mom gave me money to go bowling with my brothers. She was always the best mom she always made me in a better mood when I was down she always picked me back up I love you mom I miss you so much.

moma Laurie & I

March 17, 2011

When I met Laurie, While I was a prison work release program and she gave me my first job. She believed in me when I did not know how to believe in myself. Laurie swept me under her wings and taught me how to be a responsible productive member of society again. I have not used drugs or alcohol in 13 1/2 years. or found it necessary to go back to jail or prison. Because of your love, kindness and guidence I am a better person, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. I cannot thank Laurie, Guy or the Shortline Express family enough for what they done for me.  when a person looks up friend in websters your picture should be right next to it. Laurie was there every step of the way with me. My first apartment, getting my kids back, my birthdays, holidays, my bridal shower, and wedding. I went on my first real vacation with the shortline family and  My moma Laurie. Your will always be moma to me I love you know and always. I miss you dearly. Thank you my friend for everything.   Love always Val Brass- Dunford

A True Motivator

March 8, 2011

I met Laurie in 2008 so compared to some, not very long.  Within 2 months of working as a clerk in her store she asked if I wanted to move up in the company.  In 5 months time I was promoted to assistant manager.  I didn't think I even wanted to stay in C-stores!  She has been pushing me and pushing me to work out my drivers license issues with "It's holding you back!" and "Think of the freedom".  Any time I needed a ride home from work even if she was on the other side of town she was there.  Thanks to her I'm driving myself now!  She taught me a lot about managing a store and thanks to Laurie I will be confident when the time comes.  I don't know who I will call now when I can't figure something out, its been my first instinct to text or call her.  I will miss Laurie!

Forever In Our Lives

March 6, 2011

I was so touched to read all the wonderful comments in regards to Laurie's passing, that I wanted to create this Memorial Site to Honor Her Memory. Laurie has touched so many people that I thought it would be nice to have this site so all can go to it and share their stories of how she has touched their lives. I don't think Laurie realized how many lives she had really touched. Whether it be in a big way or just a small way, she was an inspiration to us all. You would never know that Laurie was battling the battle she was for 17 years. She never let it show. Never let it get her down. She was always positive and smiling no matter how much she went through. Laurie, my friend, we may not have been very close, but we knew each other 20+ years and you were always considered a 2nd Mom to my daugther. Thank you for blessing my life with your presence. You will never be forgotten. I hope to meet up with you again some day. I Love You My Friend. Laura
