Hi Mom,
I can't fathom that you've been gone for the past 8 years. A lot has happened since you've been gone. First, dad had a big argument w/the phone company and then wound up w/no phone, so Aunt Marion nor Aunt Martha or I could "call" him to check up on him. Thanks to Aunt Marion, she bought him a cell phone, but because of where he lives, he can't really use it except when he goes to the store. But, at least I have his number. He tries to call me once a month.
The second thing that has happened is last year, on June 24, 2019, I had GastroByPass Surgery, which means that two days ago, I celebrated my first year. You'd be very happy for me, as I've lost a little more than 100 lbs. I wish you were here to help me through, but I know you were with me, in spirit. Dad hasn't seen me yet, I'm hoping he'll come for Christmas and boy, am I looking forward to seeing his face when he sees me at the bus station. Right now, I'm around 212 lbs. I'm shooting for 160 lbs. I'm also hoping that by next year I can have surgery to remove all the excess skin under both arms, legs and stomach. Mom, I wish I knew about this surgery before you left us, as I think you could have benefited from this surgery as well. I hope you know I did not have this surgery for vain reasons, I did this for all the medical reasons, in fact, I'm not taking insulin anymore and my AC1 is way down, below 60. But, I did do this because I want to live far past my 60s. I want to be around for my grandkids, if I ever get any. I wish you could tell me if Andy and I are ever going to be grandparents. I hope you're proud of me for doing this.
One thing you'd be glad you're not around for is COVID-19. Everyone has been shut up in their homes. If you go out anywhere you have to wear a mask. They closed down almost everything. About the only things that were opened, for awhile, was the grocery stores, fast food places and Walmart / Target. They've slowly started opening up restaurants, barber shops, and nalon salons. Boy did I miss not having my nails done. Joy and I finally got them done this past Tuesday evening. I've been working from home for the past three months, since March 12th. Just found out that I'll be working from home at least through the end of this year. However, my boss thinks that we'll be working from home indefinitely. We'll see.
I love you mom and I miss you terribly. How is it there in Heaven? Every now and then I ask the Lord to give you a hug for me. I hope you got them. How's Linda and Frankie? Give them a hug for me. I love you mom and I miss you so much.
Oh and by the way, your granddaughter is now a welder! Yep, that's right, Joy is a welder. She completed her school now she's trying to find a job, but with this COVID-19, it's kind of hard. But, she'll get one. Give everyone I know there a hug for me and tell them I love them. LOVE YOU,

My other Mom, and Grandma Holmes to my kids -- we love you and will miss you. I'll help look after my Sis Lynn, I know you'll watch out for all of us from your new vantage point above. Tell God I said Hello, see you some day soon (but not too soon!) Love, your other daughter, Dart
