His Life

bio

October 1, 2016

Leo was born on June 3rd 1932 in Los Angeles California and was the 3rd of 4 children. Leo moved to San Francisco at a very young age with his family and he considered San Francisco his home. It is in San Francisco that Leo made so many of his life long friends, attented high school, developed a passion for the arts and jazz music, and later married and raised his two daughters Raegen and Gianna. Leo eventually retired to Sonoma Valley where he was a member of the community for 20 years.

Leo attended James Lick High School in SF and enjoyed the vibrant art and music scene that San Francisco had to offer. Leo also joined the US Army for a short period but decided that music was his passion and with the encouragement of his friend Curry TJader Leo decided to pursue his music studies with his friend at The Berklee School of Music in Boston. Leo was an avid Jazz fan and enjoyed  playing the Saxophone and in the late 50's and 60's he enjoyed being a part of the San Francisco music scene.

Leo was a diehard San Francisco Giants and 49er fan. He loved playing the ponies making Bay Meadows, Golden Gate Fields, and the Sonoma County Fair Grounds race track (during fair season) his home away from home. But mostly Leo was just a huge fan of his beloved San Francisco, his life long friends, and his family.

When Leo retired and moved to Sonoma Valley he helped raise two of his grandchildren and he devoted his days to tending the booth at The Patch. The Patch became an integral part of the last 18 years of his life. It is here that Leo made so many friends in the community and he considered himself a part of "The Patch" family.

Leo was truly one of a kind. He had a personality that drew people in. He was charming and funny and he had an incredible knowledge of so many subjects, he had a curiosity, and a passion for learning. Leo was a loyal friend and he was extremely devoted to his kids and grandkids. He had a big personality and he wasn't affraid to speak his mind. Leo's passing will leave a big void in the life of his kids, grandkids, family and friends. We are forever grateful for the time he spent here with us. We are grateful for the memories and for all the good laughs.

Thank you dad for all that you have taught us and for all the love that you have given us.
