Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never ever the same.

On Robbie Burns Day, January 25th 2012 at 11:25 PM in the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with his wife Mary, sons Ron and Glenn, and niece Karen at his side, Leonard William Scott peacefully succumbed to the disease that plagued him for the past five years.

If you are inclined, a donation in his name to one of his favorite charities in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

"We are thinking of you all in this sad time. I wish for peace and comfort when you think of all the happy times you had together.  No matter your age losing a parent is life altering and to loose your spouse is heart breaking.  Our hearts go out to you.

"Sheila-Gurney and I are so sorry to hear this news and have just been reading the obituary and looking at the photos. They are certainly bringing back memories for Gurney of working with Len. They are also bringing back memories for both of us of the evenings we enjoyed with you both before your move to BC. Please know that you and the family are very much in our thoughts at this sad time."

Candle lit by Marjorie Driscoll on 30th January 2012

"One lucky day, Len walked into the office of Volunteer Nanaimo.  It took a minute to realize that he was a brilliant man, who was light years ahead of me.  He brought our office into the age of technology.  Len would laugh at our questions and with patience provide us with explanations. Len brightened everyone’s day with his wonderful sense of humor. He was a good friend he will be missed."

Candle lit by Stephanie Scott on 29th January 2012

"As the mother of Matthew, Len's grandson I am very sad that Matthew
will not get to know his grandfather and hope that he will remember him from the visits he had.  I am very saddened by the loss and will always remember Len, his love of hockey, family and great sense of humour!  My heart goes out to Mary, Ron and Glenn."

"I remember the years very well growing up on Clark Street with Len and my brother hanging out.  Then, the years when he and Mary connected, probably through Bill as Mary lived behind us when we moved to Molsen in Rosemount.  We were all teenagers together.  Sorry we haven't kept in touch over the years but have thought of both of you often.  So sorry to hear of your loss.  Love Judy"

Candle lit by Sharon Egglestone on 27th January 2012

"I never had the chance to meet Len, but his dear wife Mary befriended me at the Jean Barber Lodge while I was having cancer treatments and Len was in the Vancouver Hospital.  She has become my cyber 'friend' and I send to her and her family my most sincere condolences.

"I remember the fleeting but fun trips by the Scotts to Montreal and Morin Heights. How I enjoyed talking shop with Len and loved his mischievous wicked sense of humour as well as his humanity and his ability to really listen. This is the way he remains in the memory of my heart."
