This memorial website was created in memory of our dear Mother, Lia Clemens, 88, born on December 1, 1926. To many others she was known as Nonna, Aunt Lee, or simply Lee or Lia. Her maiden name was Lena Eve Maggilini, and she is a DePalma on the maternal side.  She passed away peacefully in her own home on December 30, 2014. We will remember her forever.

Nine years later and I still miss her. It’s Lia’s birthday today, she would have been 97. She was a subtle but strong matriarch, bringing the family together with her unconditional love. That love is still with me, sustaining me through troubled waters and joy! I bet she would have been surprised but happy to see me working at the VA, like she did the last 10 years of her career. Thanks for being a wonderful example in so many ways, Ma! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Remembering Ma on her birthday. She never liked to make a fuss on this day because she didn't like being the center of attention but she always was delighted with even the smallest gesture.

We only got to connect by phone late in her life thanks to our cousin Francesca in Italy. My parents I am sure knew her as a young girl in NY. She was beautiful. The photos of Uncle John & Aunt Bea were very special to see. Lena obviously had a full and wonderful life. From the looks of all of her activities it is obvious she loved life and got the most out of it and she was surrounded by people who loved her. Thank you for including me in this wonderful tribute.

Please, as family and friends view this site, feel totally free to write a tribute, write a story, or upload any photos, video, or audio you might have. We want this to be a place where people can not only view, but share whatever they would like about Lia. We will gradually be adding more ourselves as time and technology permits!  Thank you!

I miss my mother very, very much. She gave us love, love, and more love her entire life. There is no way to replace her, and I am forever grateful to have had her for a Mom. She was the best.
