My Fondest Memories of Fifth Grade

August 23, 2013

Have you had any fond memories of the fifth grade that are really special? One of my fondest memories of fifth grade was going to Columbia State Park field trip. It was a long bus ride to get there, so some of use brought along things that keeps us entertained but you have to keep them on the bus so they won't get lost. Once we arrived, some of the students got to pan for gold. Afterwards, we walked around and saw many things, and then we ate lunch. When we finish eating our lunch, we all started rock climbing. While we were rock climbing we saw some little caves nearby. When we finished rock climbing, we rode the stagecoach. Some of us were able to ride the stagecoach. After the stagecoach ride we walked up to the old school house. At the end of the day, we got back on the bus for the ride back to school. The next day we got a souvenir horseshoe.

Another one of my fondest memories is D.A.R.E. D.A.R.E. stands for drug abuse resistant education. Our D.A.R.E. officer's name is Officer Salazar. He handed out folders and workbooks to all of the students. We have D.A.R.E. every Wednesday. After finishing the workbook, for the past couple of weeks, we had to write an essay and make a poster about D.A.R.E. Some of us will get an award for the best essay and poster at the graduation. At the graduation, we wore the D.A.R.E. t-shirts and sang the D.A.R.E. song. We have a D.A.R.E. box where you write in a question on a small piece of paper and put it in the box so Officer Salazar can answer your questions.

One of my last fondest memories is going to the San Francisco Exploratoriam field trip. It was a long bus ride to there. Once we arrived there, there were different stations. Most of them were about science. We went to a place where you could draw, mine came out like a banana-like shape. Afterwards, we went to the gift shop, there were many things that you could buy there. Then we went back on the bust to go back to school. All in all, these are some of my fondest memories of fifth grade.
