My mom was a strong woman. In many ways, she was a tough woman, and that didn’t always make things easy. But, my mom was a generous and compassionate woman. She had her principles - right or wrong, and she lived by them. She overcame a lot in her life! She experienced abuse, an eating disorder, addiction, divorce, loss, accusations, and betrayal. She did her best with what she had, and rose above it all. She worked hard, and made no excuses for herself. And she expected the same from me. If it wasn’t for her example in all these things, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today in my life - sober, healthy, and able.
