The daughter of the late John, Sr. and Hassie Beauford Buckner, Mrs. Hollis was born in Chattahoochee County, GA on March 10, 1922. She was a graduate of the Friendship High School in Cusseta, and was a member of Kingsville Baptist Church where she was a former Usher. She was retired from Sutton's Animal Clinic following 23 years of service as a nursing technician.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus C. Hollis, a daughter, Almyrtha Baker, and two siblings.

Surviving are: her daughter, Jeanette Walker; two sons, Andrew D. Baker and Willie D. Baker; nine grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; a devoted caregiver, Johnnie Mae Upshaw; loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
