His Life

Born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan on July 16th, 1943 to Clifford and Norma (Haugerud) Tolofson, Lorne grew up on a farm near Melfort, Saskatchewan.

As a young man, Lorne lived for a time in Vancouver, British Colombia before hitch hicking across the country to finally settle in Toronto, Ontario where he lived most of his life.

Lorne married Beverley Ann Cross in 1970 whom spent 17 years together until they separated amicably in 1987.   They have one son together, Ryan Bradley Tollofson, who continues to live in Toronto with his partner Leonardo Oliveira.

Lorne joined the Toronto Transit Commission as a collector in 1975, where he worked until his retirement in 2004.   After retirement, Lorne spent several years living in Bloomfield, Ontario and San Jose, Costa Rica where he was able to express his passion for gardening, cooking, the outdoors, animals, and especially travelling.  Before it became difficult to get around, Lorne enjoyed visited Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and Peru.   He also frequently spoke fondly of an earlier trip he took to Portugual with his long-time friend Tony Matos.

Lorne was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Norma and his brothers Leroy and Alen.   He is survived by his son Ryan; ex-wife Beverley; his sisters Letty McLeod and Reta Paranteau; his brother Paul Tolofson; and his nieces, nephews and other relatives.
