Happy birthday to my dad with his favorite flowers. Not a day goes by that he is not thought of. September 3, was for 70 years, a brighter day because of the way he celebrated his life. We should all continue to do the same and celebrate each day of life we are afforded. I hope for comfort for my mom, my brother, my dad's brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and last but absolutely not least, his friends whom he cared so deeply about, and colleagues he cherished. As the website so aptly states, he will be forever missed.
The news of the passing of Loughton Taylor triggered shock waves throughout the South Florida senior golfing fraternity, by whom he was revered, respected and well-loved. A fellow Caribbean brother, over the years, we developed a very close and personal relationship, so for me, his death is a personal tragedy. We saw each other every week, unless he was traveling. We partnered each other frequently in golfing outings, engaged either in friendly competition or as playing partners in combat against our many opposing competitors. He made the annual pilgrimage to my annual students' golf classic. In victory, he was gracious, in defeat, he was stoic, but always playing the game by the rules, tenets which not only characterized his life as an exemplar among his peers, but which also earned him a place in the pantheon of golfers. Loughton possessed a unique intellect. Witty, funny, affable, he was always the life of the party.
When in late November 2012, he mentioned to me that he was traveling to New York and could not attend my annual December tournament, and would have himself checked out for a pain in his back, we embraced, and I whispered to him that 'if we meet again, we shall smile, if not this parting was well made', but take good care of yourself. Little did I think that those words would ring true.
No, not in Florida, nor in New York, but I hope you FedExed your newly acquired 2.0 TaylorMades to Peter, because I have already made arrangements to FedEx mine, yea, the same kind you purchased, and I have had Peter reserve a tee time for our long-awaited round when I join you at the Pearly Gates. So REST IN PEACE, brother, until we meet again for the next game. I love you and I miss you. You will always be in my heart. We are sure to meet again and until then, MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS.
I extend my sincerest condolences to The Taylor Family.

My dear friend Loughton asked always when I was going back to Guyana knowing fully well I have no intention. Though miles away I enjoyed n shared his exhuberance. He made any conversation unique by his humour. I will never forget his smiles and the happiness he brought to any table. On our last ride together going to Berbice we had continuous fun n laughter from GT to Crabwood Creek n back. The people he met liked him instantly. I will never have another friend like him.Physically he is gone but certainly not lost, his smile exuded sincerity.Until my friend! .
"When Loughton came to Esso Barbados in 1984, we met a jovial, fun-loving, well-liked man, who left a pleasant lasting effect on all he met. He has gone to a better place where there is no more pain or suffering. We extend condolences to the entire family circle and will continue keeping you in our prayers, asking God to protect you and keep you in good health."
Even in the hospital, Lofton took the time to interact with people. When he was able to, he showed sincere interest. In a short time he knew names, families, holiday plans, hopes and dreams. It didn't matter if you were a nurse's aide, nurse, doctor or administrator. He would converse with anyone about everything. They would come to his room to greet him and share his humor. No one left his room without a smile.
I have to thank the many people who cared for him. Most went far beyond the boundaries of their professional duties. There are so many names, but I have to mention Millie, Ingrid and Michelle at Weill Cornell.
For you my dearest friend, God speed with the wind beneath your wings.
To Jacqui,Marc,Michael and Christopher (and grands) our prayers and thoughts are with you at this time. Lofton will always be the happiest person I've ever known, his laughter and zest for life was astoundingly contagious.
Our heartfelt sympathy,
Lynne, Lisa and Jason Cheong-Kistoo
