This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Louis Petersen. Louis proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. We will remember him forever.


Louis Edward Petersen was born November 3, 1919 at home in Brunswick and died December 8, 2010. He was 91 years old.


He graduated from Plainview High School in 1938 and worked with his father at Petersen's Garage as a mechanic from 1930 to 1967.


He married Arvilla Goetzinger in 1940 and raised a family of six boys that included his wife's brother, Harold, who came to live with them at age 11.

He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 during World War II.


Louis was a volunteer fireman for most of his life, including assistance fire chief for 14 years,  fire chief for 6 years. He organized the first Junior Fire Patrol Program in 1960. He was employed by the State of Nebraska as a deputy fire marshal.

Another "Krowning" achievement for Louis was his participation in the organization and direction of the Plainview Klown Band from 1949-2008. The first Community Service Award was presented to him by the Plainview Jaycees in 1967. In 1968, he received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award for unselfish and neighborly deeds.

He was a 65-year member and served as a Commander of the American Legion Post 148 and VFW Post 5330.
