This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Louis Cannata, 77, born on August 2, 1935 and passed away on December 28, 2012.
Lou was 77 years-old at the time of his passing. Lou passed away in Old Point Loma Rehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA of Heart Failure. Lou was born in Pittsburgh PA. Lou also served in the U.S. Air Force from January 1954 until July 1957, in the 805 Air Force Police Squadron. He received the National Defense Medal and had an Honorable Discharge. He married Darlene Tirpak in August 1963. They had 3 children together, before separating and divorcing in January, 1977. He was a steel worker for several years in Pittsburgh PA. He moved his family to California in 1970, where he worked at Kaiser Steel for several years. Lou also worked at Desert Center Unified School district for a few years in the 1970’s as a grounds keeper. After his divorce he moved to San Diego and worked as a janitor for Peter D’s bar. He was a “Gentle Giant” with a kind heart. He was known for spending time with his children and the neighbor children playing various sports. “My Dad was a caring man, and also very quiet. He loved his grandchildren. He didn’t say much, but I could see the love in his eyes.” Quoted by Gina. Lou is preceded in death by his father Frank Cannata, mother Antoinette Mary (Christopher) Cannata, Brothers Joseph L. Cannata, James V. Cannata, Arthur (Art) Cannata, William (Bill) Cannata, Frank Cannata, Dominic Cannata , Sisters Anna Cannata and Rosie Cannata. Also proceeded in death by his Grandson Casey A. Luffman. Lou is survived by his children Gina M. Luffman of Bishop CA, Louie Cannata of Palm Springs CA, and Ann Marie Wikinson of GA, also his grandchildren Michael Luffman, Jessicah Luffman and Joshua Wilkinson, and many nieces and nephews throughout the U.S.A.
Lou will be interred at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
Funeral/Interment Services to be arranged in the future.
