"Lucy, it is so painful to see you go just like that.
Amidst the grief we so feel at your tragedy, we also take comfort today in the profound memories of the truly lovely person, daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother friend, chemist and teacher you are.
An American writer once wrote “ When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives, but are grateful for the abundance that’s present ….the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth.”
Your bright shining memory will out-live the darkness of this past few weeks and will inspire us all with courage at difficult times.
We remember, your calm but vibrant presence, the thrill and example of your living life to the full, in acknowledgement of the grace of our God.
Rest fully in perfect peace."
"RIP my sweet Lucy

"A Tribute to Lucy Mary -The Alphabet of Her Personality
By Agnes Abrefa-Kugblenu
Today we mourn the loss of a beloved friend who leaves a remarkable memory in our
hearts and on our minds.
Lucy Mary had a great personality that could be spelt out in the letters of the alphabet.
An AMAZING woman, AMICABLE in every way, ADVENTUROUS in some way,
BEAUTIFUL, inside and out, BRILLIANT to a tee, BRAVE you all can see,
CARING came naturally to her and COURAGEOUS she was till the end.
DEVOTED to her family and friends. DILIGENT without a bend.
EXPERIENCED in her vocation., EXCELLING in every region of her life.
EXEMPLARY model of a woman.
FRIEND to all her mates , she had no foes, always willing to give a helping hand.
GENEROUS all the time , the only thing she did not give out was what she did not have.
GENTLE in Spirit , GRACIOUS at sight,
HILARIOUS she was at times, often giving off a loud laughter. HAPPY was her
permanent demeanor. HOPEFUL were her thoughts.
INFUSED in love which she acquired from her parents , INSPIRING to others.
JOYOUS was her spirit, JOCUND was her mood. JAUNTY as usual.
KINDNESS clothed her being from childhood to adulthood
LOVING with a warm embrace , anyone who knew her would attest to this.
MOTHER to her children and sometimes to her mates, MENTOR to many children
MAJESTIC were the steps she took as I would often tease her, "only your galleys".
NICE to everyone who came across her, NIFTY in every sense of the word.
ORDERLY were her ways, keeping every thing in pristine condition. ORGANIZED
she was always,
PRIM and PROPER she appeared to be as a result of this.PATIENCE was one of the
many gifts she possessed.
POSITIVE were her thoughts from beginning to the end.
QUIDDITY of life, QUIESCENT she remains now.
RICH in talent and integrity, RADIANT throughout, RESILIENT to
SELFLESS by nature, STRONG by experience, SMART from birth till death.
TENACIOUS was her spirit, TRIUMPH is her portion.
UNIQUE was her style, UNDERSTANDING with a listening ear,
VIRTUOUS she was throughout her lifetime.
VICTORIOUS will she remain as God places the crown of Victory on her
WARRIOR in every facet of the word. She fought the battle to the end.
WONDERFUL was the manner in which she handled it.
XENIA! It didn't matter who you were,
YOUNG at heart, YOUTHFUL in soul,
ZEALOUS , ZIPPY , she had a ZEST for life.
"ZAFTIG" Lucy rest peacefully in the Lords arms. ZION awaits you!"
"Dearest Lucy, I had the absolute joy of knowing you through meeting and teaching your wonderful children, Jesse and Annie. Your hot banana cake was legendary in our house and my lads still talk fondly of me returning home laden with another loaf you had kindly baked. Your humility, your smile and your unending reserve of optimism will never leave me. Just be thankful that your beautiful children have gained those qualities unique to you. What a treasure you were. Sleep well my friend xxx"
"My dear Aba Lu, I know for sure that our Lord Jesus Christ has personally welcomed you home. Which is why I can look at your beautiful photo, feel the pain of your 'relocation' and still carry on. Da yie, my friend, my little sister. Korkor."
"My darling Lucy
Words fail me to describe the emptiness I feel .
We first met as school mums and quickly became more like sisters , we shared so many laughters as well as tears.
We were there for each other without a fail
You've been so brave with an infectious smile and positivity throughout your journey , you fought so hard with dignity and pride.
I'm so thankful for the memories we shared !
As I kissed you goodbye a part of me was taken that day and i will never be the same again.
I miss you every single day .
Rest in peace my beautiful sis , your bravery lives in Annie and Jesse whom I adore and I will be in their lives forever .
Love you so much X"

"Mama Lu/Sis/Sweetheart; A good heart has stopped beating and a good soul ascended to heaven. You were a wonderful, gentle soul and good listener. Your smile would always pick me up as well as that famous banana bread and the special pancakes for breakfast after a sleepover. Your braveness and selflessness is already showing in Jesse and Annie. "Mama Lu like joke! Like joke!" Today you’re not where you were (sitting or sleeping on the sofa) but you will always be in my heart. I will always love you and the family. Keep on smiling Angel."
"Dearest Lucy, hearts are broken but I rejoice in that you are no longer suffering. i hear your voice singing in heaven. Until we meet again dear sister you will always hold a special place in my heart xxx"

"You fought a good fight, sleep well my angel, till we meet again,RIP"
Lucy had strength That couldn't be bought
While others would whimper, She stayed strong and fought.
If she was suffering, Nobody would know.
Well months passed, And minutes flew
Her time was getting shorter, As her love for life grew.
Well one day, God asked her To go get her wings And join him in paradise Doing heavenly things.
Her friends would all miss her, her family, too.
That charisma, that smile Making each day new
Everyday we wake up And we pray to her loud,
"Lucy, we hope You're having fun In the clouds."
Cyril & Austina xxx"

This jigsaw puzzle my lovely will never be complete again without that very special centre piece of you in it but your legacy will live on in Joe & your precious children, Jesse & Annie & in fact everyone you touched because Lucy you are a phenomenal lady & we will miss you so very much.

"Thank you for sharing the sweetness of your spirit and the depth of your faith with all of us as you went through this journey. May your children remember you with pride, and may your husband always remember your smile to brighten his soul on the dreary days."
"RIP. A beautiful soul at rest"
"There were not many with a stronger character than you. You remained a fighter till you drew your last breath, but even when you knew the battle would require a miracle, your only though was for those around you and what support they would need. Truly selfless to the very end. For me you will always be symbolised by three words 'NOT A LOT'
Rest in perfect peace in the arms of the Lord. You will be sorely missed but never forgotten."
"Dear Lucy you were a brave and strong lady. You always were very calm and thoughtful and endured your illness with grace.
You will be missed."

"Lucy Loo, you know what I'm saying right, you were one amazing, beautiful lady with a big heart, smile and infectious laugh.

You put up one hell of fight, I hope you are now at peace
My heart goes out to Joe, Jesse and Annie xxxx"
"Our very dear beautiful friend & neighbour .... Lucy
We met when Jesse & Sam were at Kiddi Caru nursery together some 11 years ago. They then went on to primary school & now at secondary school together.
Your children Jesse & Annie who are a credit to you & I'm sure they will continue this with you living so much in them both.
Always remembering your smiley face & even that wicked laugh !!
You took everything in your stride and nothing seemed to faze you. Will miss our Coffee meets to Costa ( yes I introduced you !! ) & our Laughs together at our little jokes .. our texts to each other & will miss hearing your voice.
You are such an inspirational woman who in her darkest days never gave up.
Your belief in faith gave you the strength & graciousness for which you accomplished, this didn't go unnoticed ...
You will ALWAYS be in our hearts & thoughts forever.
Heaven has gained a truly blessed Angel & you will be sorely missed so much by many.
Sleep tight Luce .. Love Always

"Lucy, you were one in a million, lighting up the lives of all of us who were lucky enough to know you. I will always remember your dazzling smile and joyful laugh, your amazing zest for life and the love, kindness and generosity you extended to everybody. Your spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Much love and sympathy to all your loved ones at this terribly sad time xxxxx"
You are the kindest most beautiful soul anyone could ever wish for as a friend.
Your vibrancy, your love of life;
Your infamous smile and humour that could always brighten the darkest of times;
Your elegance and your beauty;
All in abundance – and yet complimented with such grace and humility.
The strength and dignity you drew from your ever eternal faith was beyond compare and continues on through Joe, Jesse and Annie. I often called you my “Superwoman”, and was in awe of your undeniable courage and hope. I shall miss our walks in the sunshine putting the world to rights, our catch up cuppa’s, more launches of the fabulous “Aunty Lucy’s” banana bread bake sales with Annie and Megan – and of course those ladies nights out!
“Carpe Diem” was your motto, and you certainly did - with both hands!
Little did we know then what the future held and that just one week ago that I would be sharing my most privileged and treasured moments with you, which of course involved your love of music! So until we hold hands again Lucy, take comfort in the legacy you have left to so many.
Safe journey and God bless,
Love always, Jacqui, Mark, Connor & Megan xx"

"Lucy and I first crossed paths at work. Her humour and zest for life were infectious. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time in her company. I can honestly say that she was one of the kindest, most caring people that I have ever met.
I hope that she can now rest in peace, having fought so courageously
Love and best wishes to all her family at this tragic time. xx"
"Tuesday 22nd March, my aching heart broke as you departed this earthly life my dearest bestie and sister. You showed such courage and determination throughout your fight against this hideous disease. Your incredible strength of character and your unwavering faith in the Lord kept you going right up until the very end. You showed time and time again, that even in such adversity, the Lord was your stronghold and your refuge, your faithfullness in the Lord totally unquestionable and for that we salute you, our phenomenal Lucy.
After over 20 years of loving you as my sister, my source of strength and my daily dose of happy pill, how do we move on from here? My darling most precious Lou, we have been so truly blessed to have had you in our lives and you will forever be in our aching hearts. Our lives will never be the same again. You have left the most wonderful legacy in your beautiful children Jesse and Annie and your darling Ebow. We pray the Lord keep you safe in his arms until we meet again my darling Araba LouLou. Rest in God's eternal peace. Love you today and always xxx"
"I met Lucy (and her Mum Adelaide)in the summer of 2012, we had both finished our treatments and had become involved with Brafternoon a new support group. We shared many giggles and of course tears along the way.
She struck me as one amazing lady, full of life, love and laughter with a dazzling smile and huge beautiful brown eyes. She talked often of her lovely children, her religion and her baking.
My last vivid memory of Lucy is at our Christmas party ........ oh boy she rocked it!! She sang, she danced and danced till she could no more.
A privilege to have known such an awe inspiring special lady. Sleep tight my love.
Much love to Jesse, Annie and her family
"Rest in peace my friend and my sister.I am really saddened by your death but God knows best and I know by now you are safely in God's hands because that's were you belong.God be with you till we meet again .Sleep well my love."

"Lucy Mary thank you for the thoughtful moments we shared the last few years! Even though we were in secondary school together I will get to know and appreciate your strength as we grew up. I felt so overwhelmed with your positive outlook to everything in life, the logical approach and the maturity! I learnt a lot my only regret the last time we spoke I had placed an order for your amazing cakes for work to give out as present for Mother's Day! You were so cheerful and we made plans to getting you to meet the rest of OAA 84 group! I told you the amazing evening I had meeting all the other friends and you were so looking forward to the next meeting! We both concluded that fb was amazing and felt eternally grateful that we established contact! Rest in perfect peace my friend and you will be sorely missed and I will cherish the memories of your smile and that infectious laugh! The poise wow you always was a lady!! The world has lost an angel"

I will miss your dance moves , you had great moves at many a football do.
Your banana bread was always enjoyed it is legendary ,
Heaven has deffinately gain a wonderful angel"
"Lucy, you were the bravest most dignified person I have known - fighting your battle relentlessly.
I don't think they're many of us that knew you who haven't sampled the famous banana bread - even my fussy Mia loved it!
Who would've thought that 13 years after we met with our tiny new borns - we would have literally danced our feet off at Jacqui's 49th - well your toenail anyway!
I've lost one of my best dance partners - with the biggest smile and the greatest laugh.
You taught me a lot about what's important in life and for that I am forever thankful.
I'll miss you my friend - save a space on that dance floor up there for me!
Love always, Michelle xx"
"Lucy, had I known that you would be leaving so soon I would have braved the Carnival with you on that rainy August Bank Holiday afternoon in 2014. Oh death, you have robbed us of a gem. One that shone so brightly that she dazzled. Lucy, your brave fight was done with such effortless grace, good humour and dignity. You made me feel so proud to know you. I bet there was a great fanfare and resounding applause when you walked through the gates of heaven. Go prepare a place for us. We will go to the carnival in heaven. Rest in peace my brave Sister. Forever in my heart. xxx"
"Lucy, your positivity and laugh were infectious. You were an amazing woman and I give thanks our paths crossed. The world is a slightly darker place without you in it. Rest in well deserved peace. X"
"Lucy you was one of the most kind, thoughtful and bubbly person I have ever had the honour to have met.
I remember some Sunday's there would be a knock on the door and it was you delivering your most delicious banana bread! We used to fight over who was having the last slice. It was legendary!!
You always had a smile on your face and never seemed to let anything faze you. Even when times were so hard for you, you still tried your hardest not to show it. What a truly amazing person you are and I will never forgot you! You will always remain close to my heart! Xxx"
"Dear Lucy its been soo many years that we talked, however the memories that remains with me is our Motown days. The juniors attest to the fact that you were one of the kindest seniors. I followed you post on FB and from that I know you still had the faith burning. Gods ways are not our ways and something's will always remain a mystery. One thing that I know that God has always won the battle for us.
Philippians 3:20-21 but our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things unto himself.
RIP dear Lucy"
"I have known Lucy since the 1970's and after a long lapse spanning a little over 3 decades reconnected with her via Whatsapp for a few months before she passed. She is a smart affectionate ant outright down to earth with a perfect sense of humor.Little did I know that this was gonna happen but in all things let's give thanks to God

"Looking back with fond Motown memories to the class of '84
Sadly we can't have our old days back
When we were all together
But secret tears and loving thoughts
Will be with us forever
We bless the years we had with you
And leave the rest to God
You have fought a good fight
You have finished the race
You have kept the Faith
Fare thee well, Akora Lucy
Angels never die"
"We were fortunate enough to have Lucy on our team at a few quiz nights, still not sure why we didn't win. Of course it was the taking part that mattered and the laughs, oh did we laugh, we weren't very good but we had the best of times and we're very sad that Lucy won't be on our team any more but a place will be saved for her!
What I remember more than anything is how selfless Lucy was. I've had a few health problems lately and Lucy, although she was going through her own treatment, messaged me to ask what she could do to help. I felt ashamed, bucked my ideas up and took more control of my illness and am much better than I was.
I wish Lucy knew what a difference she made to not only me but many, many people, who all loved her.
Lucy we will miss you but won't stop thinking about you. xx"
"Lucy, I knew you only briefly - but you were an amazing person, clearly bringing light to everyone who has the pleasure to know you. You are a credit to your family, and your touch on the earth remains in your amazing family
Rest now - the work is done.
Feeling blessed to have known you
