ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Luford Short Jr., 53, born on March 21, 1962 and passed away on March 13, 2016. We will remember him forever.

Luford Doyle Short Jr., Doyle to most, Skipper to those who loved him best, died on this, the 13th of March, 2016, after an arduous illness. But, as was always his habit, he faced it with a wide smile on his face and laughter on his tongue. "Skip" is survived by two wonderful children, Miss Meredith Short, 27, and Maddison Short, 23. He also precedes, in death, both loving parents, Luford Doyle Short Sr. and Mrs. Carolyn Ramsey Short, as well as his younger brother Donald Richard Short, and the uncle he looked up to, Thomas Elliott Ramsey, all of Texas.

Though the past 12 years were long and hard, we, his family, have a myriad of wonderful memories to carry us through, from the devilish child that pulled pranks, or the youth that always gave his beloved grandfather a reason to "curse the ump" as he played on the baseball field, to the hard-working adult who would do anything for a friend. I don't know if I can recall a time when Skipper was not smiling, and that is what I will remember best about him, in addition to his infectious laugh, with that cute gap between his teeth, and the hugs that always came no matter how long it had been since seeing him last. Thank you for those memories, Skip. No matter what trials came before, know that you were and are dearly loved.

And now, you go where we cannot follow, out of pain and smiling from wherever it is you travel. It is our, your family and friend's hope, that you are in the care of Nana and Poppy now. Please give them our love and rest my dearest Skipper, you've earned it.

Many fond memories of Doyle, The Star Café, Kathy, Mr. B. Greenspoint Apartments. They were really good times. Heartfelt sympathy for the Short family. Gods Peace and Comfort during this sadness.

Oh my good friend Doyle. You were and always will be the man! Even though I knew you after you were hindered, I've never seen you without a smile on your face and putting smiles on the faces of all around you. You were a good friend. You taught me a lot about perseverance, and to keep on trucking. You taught me to "Put a lid on it!". Even though we didn't always agree politically, because you made it known that you vote 'straight republican' it never got in the way of our friendship. You are probably in a better place now than what we have coming our way. Peace and Love. I will miss you and wish the best for your children. I say goodbye to my friend, with the utmost respect. I'll meet you on the other side. Weezy.

Doyle, yesterday was your birthday. I am still dealing with the shocking news of you being in heaven. No more pain and suffering. You are free. I will always cherish the stories and laughs we shared during the time I was your CNA. I enjoyed our talks and the time we shared together. Rest my sweet friend until we meet again. To the Short family, please accept my deepest condolences.

Today, you would have been 54! I miss you so much. Thankfully, I will always have those memories of the 3 of us as kids. You and Donnie pulling pranks, and me keeping you guys in line! You will never be forgotten!
