OBITUARY

July 29, 2014

On Saturday, July 19 2014 Luther Lee Wise Jr. was called home.  Luther was born on July 28, 1957 in Washington DC to the Late Barbara and Luther Sturdivant.

Luther was raised in a Christian home and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Luther (Junior) was the oldest of eight children and enjoyed being the center of attention.  As a child he was known for playing jokes on his siblings, befriending the kids in the neighborhood and using his charm to win the hearts of their parents.  As a young adult, Luther went into the Army seeing a small piece of the world as he was stationed in California and Germany.

Junior struggled for many years adjusting to life after returning home from Germany.  He had a love for life and a special love for his children.  He talked about them often and hoped to one day leave them “his” restaurant.  Luther worked in the food industry as a cook for many years.  With dreams of one day owning his own restaurant and the encouragement of his fiancée Cynthia Gaskins, Luther went back to school to become a chef.   He overcame many obstacles to include turning on a computer and accessing the internet.  His sister Vickie said she still remembers the day Junior picked up his phone, went online and read her his class schedule.   He was so proud as he knew in his heart that he had begun a new chapter of his life.  Luther’s new zest for life continued as he fought his battle with cancer. Junior didn’t speak of his illness acting as he often did – putting others before himself…  But through it all, his eyes continued to say... “I Love You.  Luther was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
