You know, those tiny gestures of love that can put a smile upon your face at any given moment. All the moments that spring to memory involve her acting for someone else. She was stubborn about it too, not vocally, but in the way in which she did it. If she gave you her seat, baked you a cake, or gave you a helping hand you couldn’t tell her no. You wouldn’t have wanted to, because there was that little something in her movement that told you that she would do it anyway. There was no arguing with it. She acted in this manner so as to put everyone and everything before herself, even in the little things. Not a day went by that she didn’t try her best to do for those she loved, not a day. Surprisingly, that’s what we remember most. Those kind gestures of love and care, they formulate the memories that last a lifetime. She’ll be remembered fondly, I can say that without a doubt.

She leaves behind a large, beautiful, and growing family. A successive generation of five children and four grandchildren follow in her footsteps and lessons in which she imparted upon them. In kindness and grace they shall continue to thrive. She’d like it that way. She always wanted the best for them. You could see it in the way that she looked upon them with an enormous sense of pride.

Lydia Coverson was a special person, and it only takes one recollection to remind anyone of that fact. There was so much care and attention paid to all those who surrounded her. To love others to any great extent is a burden in which we struggle to carry each day, but Lydia didn’t carry that weight, she wore it. She wore the burden of love as one wears a blanket in the coldest winter. She held it against herself and glowed in its warmth. That’s the only way she’d have it.
My aunt was a great woman, one that I will continue to hold the utmost respect for as I continue on this winding path of life. Though she has discarded the mortal shell, she remains still. Within the light, she lives. Within words of encouragement, she lives. Within every kind act, no matter how small, she lives. Within our hearts and minds, she lives. She will continue on, through our memories and our actions. Each and every day, she will be remembered.

Lydia Coverson, woman, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend will continue to grace us with her patience, charity, and benevolence. We only need to look within our hearts to find her. I will always remember my aunt fondly, as it’s the only way I can. From the sweet smells and tastes of baked goods to the pure and unrestrained altruism displayed, I will miss her soft spoken words and helping hand. Truly, a life inspired has passed. With all my love, I wish you well on your eternal journey, my beautiful and truly great aunt Lydia.
