His Life
January 11, 2015

Manfred Hohmann, 89, of Wallingford, CT, formerly of Hauppauge, Long Island - NY, died peacefully at Ashlar Village on January 11, 2015.  He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Hilda Amend Hohmann.  Manfred or better known to some of his friends as "Fred" was born in Reutlingen, Germany on June 14, 1925 to the late Emma Seus Hohmann and Ernst Hohmann.  At the age of 26, following the hardships of a ravaged country from war, he emigrated to the U.S. and began a new life with his recently betrothed love of his life, Hilda.  A man dearly devoted to his family, he raised three loving children, and always made time for his friends and neighbors, particularly when an extra handy-man or tool was needed. After many years as manager and design eningeer in the field of tool design and machinery he retired from Bulova Systems and Instruments Corp.  Never one to not be busy or have idle hands, he devoted his days in retirement to copper crafting, making hand-crafted copper waterscapes, windchimes, flower baskets and watering cans - thrilling those who became the lucky recipients of his gifted works.   When Parkinsons disease later in retirement, handicapped his love for his hobby, he and his loving wife moved to Ashlar Village in Wallingford, CT.

In addition to his wife, Hilda who was always at his side, he is survived by his three children, his son Edmund and wife Kris and their three grandchildren, E.J., Emma, Keira; his daughter Geanie Villomann and husband Peeter of Kings Park, NY and their two grandchildren, Krista and Anders, and daughter Loretta Hohmann  of Queenstown, MD.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 10 to 11:30 AM in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford, CT.  Following, a Catholic mass will be held at 12 Noon at Church of the  Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael J Fox Foundation, www.michaeljfox.org
