This memorial was created in memory of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and dear friend, Marcella Compton Huffman. Marcella Compton Huffman, 86, went home to be with The Lord on August 26, 2016.
Marcella was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on November 12, 1929, the daughter of the late James Madison Compton and Della Reynolds Compton.
In 1953, Marcella married the love of her life, William (Bill) Goebel Huffman. After Bill’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps that same year they moved to Florida to begin their lives together, sharing 54 wonderful years until Bill's death in 2007.
Marcella was a retiree of BellSouth where she worked for 30 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Communication Workers of America. She was also a long time member of the First United Methodist Church where she was actively involved in the Christian Fellowship Class and Miriam Circle.
Marcella is survived by her son, William G. (Deborah) Huffman, Jr.; daughter, Victoria Huffman; granddaughters, Jennifer Huffman and Kathleen (Ron) Larson; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Erinn Larson; sister, Elizabeth Riddle; sisters-in-law, Edith Compton (Willie Lee, deceased) and Patricia Huffman (John, deceased), and many loving nieces and nephews. Marcella is predeceased by her husband, William Goebel Huffman; her parents, James Madison Compton and Della Reynolds Compton; two brothers, James Marion Compton and Willie Lee Compton; and four sisters, Nanna England, Anna Charles, Dorothy Billiter, and Martha Maples.
A private viewing will be held on August 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Howard Quattlebaum Funeral Home, North Palm Beach, Florida. Funeral services will be held on September 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, Pikeville, Kentucky with an interment at the Compton Family Cemetery. Viewing with be from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm.
Memorial donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, 616 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, Florida 34950 and Hospice of Palm Beach County.
