Mrs. Longshore Hollis has mentored many students who learned to play the piano or organ and go on to serve in local churches as well as mentoring beautiful young ladies to compete in the Miss Chatt competition.

 Mrs. Longshore Hollis is survived by her sons, James Abernathy (Carol) Longshore Jr. and Robert Jeffrey (Marsha) Longshore and her step-daughters, Teresa Davidson, Tamara (Jan) Hollis, and Tonya (Jim) Frank; grandchildren, Abby (Brannon) Winborn, Jillian Kennedy, Zach Longshore, Matt (Kelly) Shaw, Justin (Ashley) Shaw, Chase and Tedi Davidson, Corey and Tessa Frank; great-grandchildren, Lily and Anslie Winborn, Farah Kennedy, Paisley Shaw and Mason Cochran; sister, Jewel Ann (David) Christian; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Longshore Hollis was preceded in death by her husband James Abernathy Longshore, Sr., her brothers Rudolph Leak and Doss Leak, and her grandson, Tanner Longshore.

Mrs. Longshore Hollis was born on July 24, 1928 in Langdale, Al. to Jewell and Pauline Leak and grew up in the Riverview community. She was a student of Caroline Newton and began playing the piano at First Christian Church in Riverview when she was in the seventh grade. She attended Valley High School, where she excelled as a soloist for the glee club. She received her advanced musical education at Southern Union State Community College and Auburn University. Mrs. Longshore Hollis served as the choir director at Lanett First Christian, Riverview First Christian, Lanett Congregational Christian and Fairfax United Methodist churches. She will be fondly remembered for her love of music and her talent in teaching children and adults to love and appreciate music.
