Marian Wagner, wife, mother, grandmother, artist and devout Catholic died Saturday, September 26, after battling illness for over a year. She fought until the end, when all five of her children were by her side.

She was born Marian Agatha Fritz on August 14,1936 in Chicago, IL. She spent 52 years in the city where she was raised, graduated from DePaul University, married the love of her life and mothered five children. She and her husband, Paul, retired and moved to Berryville, AR, where she fell in love with the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. Eventually she and Paul returned north to be closer to their growing number of grandchildren. She spent her last years living in Hebron, IN.

A lover of art and culture, she delighted in painting, listening to classical and jazz music and taking long nature walks. She taught school, worked for the Social Security Administration and decorated cakes, amongst several other occupations.

She will always be remembered for her kind and giving heart, rarely thinking of herself, often sacrificing for others. Although never enjoying an abundance of wealth, Marian’s devout faith led her to give to many charities.

Marian is preceded in death by her brother James V. Fritz and her husband Paul J. Wagner. She is survived by her five children, Paul Jr., James (Soula), Peter (Tiffany), Cecelia (John) and Andrew (Casey), as well as her eight grandchildren, J.R., Alexi, Angela, Victoria, Veronica, Katie, Lilli and Jack.
