IN LOVING MEMORY
August 1, 2009
Marilyn was born June 29th 1973 to Josiah Salvini Kaumbulu
and Bertha May Kaumbulu in Nairobi, Kenya. As an infant,
Marilyn was baptized on July 4th at Saint Austin’s Catholic
Church. As Marilyn grew and played with her sisters and
brothers and spent favorite times with her cousin Viviana, she
learned to love boundlessly. During preschool Marilyn was a
precocious and loving child, she later began school at Loreto
Convent Msongari where she was educated from first grade
until she graduated high school at the end of Form 4. When
the family moved to the United States Marilyn continued to
study at local community colleges majoring in chemistry.
Marilyn was an excellent student and completed two years at
Laney College. Marilyn always had a smile, she was fun
loving and everyone always found her kind and easy to talk to.
She enjoyed playing the piano and would often play Fur Elise
over and over again. Although she was not particularly fond
of the great outdoors, she attempted to follow her grandmother
in planting a rose garden. Marilyn was the mother of two
children. She adored Alyssa Joy and Nicholas Salvini. Marilyn
passed July 24th 2009. Marilyn was preceded in death by her
father Josiah Salvini Kaumbulu. She is survived by her
mother Bertha Kaumbulu. Two sisters, Martina Katunge-
Kaumbulu Ebesugawa and Mwelu Jacinta Kaumbulu. She
leaves three brothers; Jerome Mwathi, John Kyaula and
William Kang’ela Kaumbulu. Marilyn has family and many
friends around the world who love her dearly and will miss her.
