Mark was such a cute and funny little guy for whom I babysat since the time he was born til he moved to Downers Grove! We shared a birthday one day and 12 years apart.
He was a sweetheart!! So sad ad to hear of his death.
Love always

5 years ago, this was a day that changed my life.
It was a Thursday, late morning, I was at work when I got the call from Jack.
I can't say I was surprised, as I had made a trip to see him the week before, and he was on his death wish.
I believe that Mark had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury at the hands of the DuPage County Sheriffs. He presented all the typical characteristics of TBI the year after he was beat up. He died 1 year later, almost to the day of the beating, where he was hospitalized for 6 days before I was even notified.
Well, there's my rant, which I'm doubt anyone will read.
Love you brother, miss you

Mark and I worked together from about 5-8 years ago.  After we stopped working together we'd still occasionally hang out and go to shows.

We went to the Doobie Brothers at Last Fling and Mark talked about how that was one of the first bands he had seen back in the 70's. We saw Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt together. We'd also seen the Jayhawks and gone to the Tivoli to see the Freddy Jones Band. Mark had a wonderful enthusiasm and appreciation for music.

He went on a trip with me to Notre Dame to see my beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs play basketball.

He always had happy stories of growing up in Downers Grove and his parent's candy shop. He also shared warm memories of his friends from SIU.

We'd talk on the phone every couple of months, and he always asked about my wife and my daughters. He was a caring, kind person.

Thought of Mark today because I was thinking of going to Johnson's Door County Fish restaurant in Lombard. Mark always loved going there for the perch. I knew that he had moved down to Southern Illinois and began to wonder how he was doing. An internet search brought me to here.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark's family. Rest in peace my friend.

Our friendship goes back to high school, through collage, adulthood, to the present. We spent many great times together over the years, including Led Zeppelin in 1977, many concerts, barn parties, SIU, Chicago Blues... You were always a close friend, and will be missed deeply.
