|Let the memory of Martha be with us forever|
Martha Ann Mitchell Bradley was born to the late Eddie Lee and Ethel Lee Boyd Mitchell on October 7, 1938 in Chambers County, Alabama. Mrs. Bradley departed this life on April 23,2011.
She was united in the Christian family of Mount Hermon Baptist Church at an early age before moving to New Your City, where she became a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church, presided by Rev. Henry A. Belin III. Upon retiring from the Board of Education of New York City, Martha moved back to her hometown of Lanett, Alabama, a hometown that she missed so dearly, and reunited with Mount Hermon Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Louis Upshaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Bradley of Bishopville, South Carolina; three brothers, Eddie Mitchell, Jr., Kary Claude Mitchell and Ike Flowers; two sisters, Mattie Mae Mitchell and Bonnie Sue Mitchell.
Martha was a strong and free-spirited woman who lived and loved life. She always had a song in her heart and the Lord on her mind. She believed in God, education and hard work, which she tried to instill in others. Her unselfish love and caring was not only recognized by her family but by her friends as well. Anyone who knew her could see and feel the gentleness and caring she possessed. Her loving memories will forever be engraved in the hearts of her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her daughter, Priscilla Mitchell of New York City; grandsons, Kendell (Natascia) Holloman of New York City and William Holloman of Raleigh, North Carolina; two sisters, Doris Lee of Detroit, Michigan and Mildred (Homer) Heard of Lanett, Alabama; two brothers, Isaac (Johnnie) Flowers of Lafayette, Alabama and Randy (Patricia) Flowers of Lanett, Alabama; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Annemarie Holloman and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
