Her Life

August 1956

April 6, 2016

My sisters and I found this poem tonight (April 5, 2016) that my Dad sent to my Mom  in August 1956.  We don't know if my Dad wrote this or it is a copy of a poem he found, but we thought it should be shared.  We believe my mom was in Saint John NB with all of us kids while my Dad was still in Montreal.

Time goes so slow when you're away
It will never pass but only stay
Like the lingering winter and the mortal fall
It hovers around like deathly pall
I cannot think when it will end
It's no longer my friend
My love, come back so safe and sound
To you I wish to be ever bound
The morning's star, the evening's shade
None than can be you so fair
Come back, come back, my one true love
Forever stay so like the sun above
