Martha's Obituary

February 26, 2014

Martha Elizabeth Laidlaw passed away on February 26th, 2014, in Yates Center, KS.  She was 97 years old.  She was born in Carthage, MO, on February 19, 1917, to David Oliver and Ella Mae Alexander.  She was the last surviving of their eight children.  She grew up in Kansas City, MO, and graduated high school in San Antonio, TX.  After high school she moved back to Kansas City and married William Sewell Perrin in 1937.  William passed away in 1953.  In 1956, she married Paul C. Laidlaw and moved to Yates Center, KS. 

During her years in Yates Center, Martha was active in the United Methodist Church, 20th Century Study Club, Senior Center (including Belles and Beaus), and several Bridge clubs.

Martha spent her last years at Deseret Healthcare & Rehabilitation in Yates Center. The family wishes to thank the staff for the extraordinary caring and support they gave her and her family. 

Martha is survived by her daughter, Betty Armstrong, and her husband, Tom, of Overland Park, KS.; her son, Tom Laidlaw, and his wife, Nancy, of Lafayette, CO; and her step-son, Stan Laidlaw, and his wife, Sarah, of Montrose, CO.  She has five grandchildren--Rick Rehorn, Scott Rehorn, Rhonda Maun, Molly Skelsey, and Clint Laidlaw.  She also has nine great grandchildren.
