When daughters Emily and Jenny were little, they would sometimes ask their dad to "tell them a story."  This is the story he would always tell:


"A man was born, he lived, he died, the end."


Of course, this made the girls giggle, and he may or may not have continued with an actual story.    I don't remember; you'd have to ask them.  So when it came time to consider what we might have inscribed on the memorial stone at the cemetery, I seriously threw out the possibility of inscribing his favorite story.  As you might guess, better minds prevailed.  But I thought this would be an appropriate way to begin telling the story of Marty's life....opening with a smile and a laugh. 

The wonderful thing was that Marty's life was nothing like the man's in his story.  Marty didn't just "live," he lived a full and happy life surrounded by family and friends who loved him.  He lived in many different communities, served in many roles, accomplished many goals, and there are many chapters to his life.  Yes, unfortunately he died, which would indicate an end to his story.  But we believe in a sprititual life that has no end, and that by preserving the stories of his life on this website, we who remain can share his life's story with others, and he can live on through our memories.

Any one of you who knew Marty and has a story to share is invited to add them to this website.  We would all enjoy reading them.
