Her Life
April 17, 2015

Mrs. Kirby was born on September 4, 1940 in Franklin, Georgia, the daughter of the late Maggie Parmer Burke and Judson B Burke. She was a 1958 graduate of Heard County High School where she was known for her sweet disposition. Until her retirement she was the owner of Kirby Farms where she managed several chicken houses. She was known far and near for her green thumb, which she put to work each year as she planted her very productive vegetable garden. Her generosity with her family kept them fed throughout the year. The minute you entered her home you could tell she was a big fan of Gospel Music. The strains of this beloved Southern tradition would reach all those who came to visit. She was diligent with her Bible study and her grandchildren remember fondly that their grandmother could come up with a verse for almost any circumstance. As a devoted Christian she especially loved attending her beloved Gray Hill Church of God. She was most content when she was in her Lord’s house. “Mrs. Marvolene” was a wonderful mother who was especially fond of her grandchildren, and set a tremendous e example of what a hardworking, Godly mother should be. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rex Gosdin; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Elizabeth Kirby; grandchildren, Jeremy Gosdin, Hailey and Stephanie Kirby, and Rhianna Schumacher all of Woodland, AL.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harmon Olin Kirby; and two brothers, Curtis and James Burke.
