My mom and my friend

August 27, 2020
I remember so much about my mom, but as a mother, I realize what she taught me about being a mother who is nourishing, supportive, a teacher, a spiritual guide and a disciplinarian.  Mom was always there for us and running us to every activity and being sure that we had everything we needed for whatever activity we were a part of and best of all, she didn't miss a thing!  I could always look around and see her sitting there watching, cheering, smiling and supporting.  I hope that I have mirrored your mothering spirit as I raised my Travis and Grant and now my sweet Royce James.  I think of you often when something comes out of my mouth that I know you would tell me.  Oh how I miss our talks and our times together.  I could always count on you being home when I came home and always there to be a shoulder to cry on.  We always had breakfast, lunch and dinner ready and you were there to be sure that the household was warm, loving and in order.  You were such an organized person mommy......I definitely learned this from you.

Some of the sweetest memories were are family vacations with the Simmons to Port Aransas, Colorado, California, Hawaii and more.

I know you are here with me in spirit.  I have seen and found your messages and can't wait to tell you more about them when we see each other again in our Father's house.

I love you so much and admire your strength during your fight against this horrible disease called cancer.  So much pain and sorrow, but you pushed through until the good Lord called you home.  I will treasure those moments with you, all the way up to the moment you went home.

You are with me forever.

See you soon sweet momlet.

Aggieland Game Day

August 30, 2015

When I was in the Corps at A&M, on game day, I would look out my dorm window to see if Mom & Dad had arrived for march in.  I was always so excited to see mom look up and wave to me from the quad below.  She was such a source of strength for me.

A Day at Venice Beach

August 29, 2015

Mom and Dad lived in La Canada, California, for about 10 years. They moved there for Dad's job. I used to go visit them a lot on breaks from Texas A&M, which was how I first discovered Venice Beach. We spent the day there, just walking around, eating lunch and laughing. I was taking a photo journalism class so I had my old camera with me loaded with black and white film. What a wonderful day.
