Mrs. Mary Inez Evans of Columbus passed away Tuesday at Columbus Hospice. She was 83 years of age.
The daughter of the late Roy and Jessie Daniels Longmire, Mrs. Evans was born on June 19, 1931 in Biloxi, MS. She was a member of the Greater Peace Baptist Church, and was a former sales representative at Sears. She was retired following more than 20 years in retail services from J. C. Penney's where she served as Department Manager over Home Interiors. She also taught ceramic classes during her spare time.
Surviving her departure with cherished memories, include: her husband of 64 years, SSG (Ret) Richard Evans; two sons, Roy E. Evans and Richard B. Evans (Maria); three daughters, Sabrina Scott, Alicia Evans, and Marita Evans (Quentin); nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Lawrence and Deborah Hearvey (Eddie); an aunt and uncle, Mary Bouie Jones and Archie Bouie, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson (Hillard); a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
