ForeverMissed

Mary Gordon Ballantyne, 89, still a bonny lass, transitioned Friday morning, August 29 at the home of her loving daughter, Linda Weser and devoted son-in-law, Stan. Mary passed peacefully under their care with the incredible support of Dody Barrows, long time caregiver and friend, Karen Labbe from Senior Bridge, and the wonderful staff from Tidewell Hospice. Without the support from these competent, caring, compassionate people, it would not have been possible for Mom to pass at home.

Born in Bonnybridge, Sterlingshire, Scotland, Mary became a naturalized U. S. citizen in 1957. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, H. W. “Bal” Ballantyne. Mary was an integral part of Ballantyne Construction prior to its closing. Mary led a rich, full life, living in several states and countries. She was a kind, generous person with a wry sense of humor. She will be missed tremendously by family and friends.

In addition, Mary is also survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Sandy Ballantyne, of Pt. Charlotte; Grandson, Aaron Weser of Ft. Myers; Sister-in-Law, Shirley Felix; Niece, Terry Ballantyne and family; Nephew, Mark Felix and family, all of California; and numerous nieces and nephews all with Canadian roots.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests support for Alzheimer’s research and Tidewell Hospice.

The family will hold a private memorial and Mary’s cremains will be interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery beside her husband, a U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II.

We will always remember Mary as a great neighbor. She would wave and a big smile covered her face each time we saw each other, not a negative bone in her body. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time, Nancy and Ron Jones

It was a pleasure knowing Mary in the setting of my salon. She was always very stylish and of a young mind. She definitely made me laugh when certain words came out of her mouth that I was not expecting! She loved her family, as they loved her, and that is an awesome testimony to her life. Colleen Hope Punta Gorda, FL

My heart go's out to all of our family for the passing of my aunt Mary. She was a peaceful soul who put others needs first. She worked faithfully for her family and husband without demands. She had a quiet strength and presence and lived a good life. We knew this time was coming and are happy she moved peacefully to join other loved ones we miss. I hope she knows how much we loved her and are thankful for so many great moments she helped provide us with. Thank you aunt Mary we love you! Mark Felix - California

Dear Linda and Family, Please accept my deep condolences at the loss of your Mother. I saw the obituary in the paper and just knew I had to let you know you all are in my thoughts and prayers. May you be comforted by the loving memories of your "bonnie lass" Mum. Respectfully, Joyce E. Schleef
