Her Life

grandchildren

Her favorite thing in the world! She was so in love with her grandkids and spoiled them rotten. She was so proud of all of them and could not wait to see them. She, of course, fed them whatever they wanted and made sure they always had birthday cakes of their choice. Ben, Andrea, Dio, Ellen, Nolan, Christopher and Mary-Kathryn. She made cookies with them, colored and did crafts, she always involved them in what she was working on. Very precious times.

hobbies

Mom was a homeroom mother for 32 years at St.Pat's school. She loved every minute of it. She especially enjoyed the fall bizarre held for many years. She loved all the children and they loved her. She would always bake goodies for the teachers, nuns and priest. She adored cooking, especially baking. In her lifetime, she made hundreds and hundreds of cheesecakes, plum puddings and Easter bread. She followed dad's mom's sauce recipe without failure.....it was delicious. She put so much love in her food, you could almost taste it. Mom could sit for hours and read recipes, a hobby I have inherited. The holidays were always her favorite. She had table clothes for every one, napkins and center pieces for each theme. She loved holidays and always had so much food, she could feed an army! Her second favorite hobby was politics. She was a staunchly devout  Democrat. Many years were spent helping to get her candidates elected, from JFK, Rockefeller, Mancin, and Clinton. She would love a great "debate" over politics and never backed down from her stand. She was so very fond of the Clinton's, she was buried with his book that she was in the process of reading.

and more children

There was a break in time, when she focused on raising the "first bunch" of kids and did not have any more until Tia Maria was born on January 11, 1964. The older kids were now teenagers  and involved in school, sports and typical teen lives. Mom and dad decided Tia needed a sibling closer to her age and they  had their final baby, Tonya Lynn, born September 19, 1966. By this time, Mary Lou was a professional at this housewife and mommy duty. She took great pride in all of her children. She taught us, along with our dad, to be kind, loving and caring people. She instilled in each of us that no matter who you were, race, color, religion, did not matter,we are all human beings and deserve respect and dignity.

more children and a new home

They immediately had a son, William A. Tucci II on November 11, 1950. They continued to live in close quarters over the store but she often said it was a wonderful time she would not have traded. As time went on, their family grew and soon a home of their own was needed. Another son,Jon J. Tucci was born on January 15, 1953. Dad and mom bought land behind the store and built a small but darling home for their growing family. Mom was a young mother and homemaker who loved to cook, decorate and loved beautiful clothes. She also had a very green thumb and always had gorgeous plants and flowers. She said it was from her years on the farm.

the love of her life

December 7, 2014

In 1946 she was with friends in Harris' Candy Kitchen. Her soon to be husband, William A. Tucci saw her. He had his best friend, Sigel,  ask her out for him. He told Sigel, I'm gonna marry that girl. They were married on December 18, 1948 at St. Patrick's church. They immediately began their family and the first child, Victoria Ann was born September 4, 1949. At this time, mom became a housewife and dad worked in the family store. They lived in the apartment with dad's family, over the store. During this time she learned to cook wonderful Italian food. Nana Tucci was very proud of her abilities and it became a lifelong passion.

teen years

Mary Lou graduated from Weston High School in 1942. She lived in the little brown cottage beside the bridge, next to the athletic field. She always said she loved school and had a lot of fun. I can see her walking to school in her cardigans, skirts and saddle shoes with her beautiful bouncing blond hair. Shortly after graduation she went to Charleston and worked at the Capitol for Rush Holt. Then came back home and went to Glenville State college for two years.

childhood

Mary Lou Law was born to Reta Butcher Law and Fred Law on March 2, 1926. She was a darling blonde country girl with very fond memories of "the farm". She spent most of her time with her grandparents doing chores, riding her favorite horse Babe and roller skating down Camden Hill. She loved to tell stories about all the chickens she had to pluck when she was 5 years old. She always talked so lovingly of the "old farm place".
