I remember Granny in pieces and parts. It hurts to realize that so much of my time with her when I was little has faded. I can still remember her smile and laugh and telling me to be good though and I miss her so much. Here are some of my brighter memories of Granny.
Playing basketball outside in the cul-de-sac, trying to not get PIG or HORSE but having fun playing with her and Alex anyways, even though they were both way better than me.
During bath time she’d play This Little Piggy with my toes. I can still remember laughing and propping my feet up on the edge of my parent’s bathtub and feeling her pinch and wiggle them, laughing down at me.
Scalloped potatoes- these were always granny potatoes and I loved them as a kid, I remember being excited to have them at the holidays when Granny and PopPop visited.
Granny’s clothes always stand out to me in my mind. Big cartoon shirts with teddy bears on baby blue fabric, hummingbird broaches and neon bike shorts, pastel polo shirts and rings that seemed almost too big on her fingers.
I think I can remember her singing around the house but that one is faint.
