Mrs. Mary (Peggy) Gray Reinitz, age 83, resident of Oxford, NC died February 8, 2014 following a brief illness.

A celebration of life service will be held at Oxford Baptist Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014 by Rev. Robert Garrett and Rev. Chris Aho. Visitation will immediately follow in the Church Family Center. A private interment will be held at a later time.

Peggy was born in Oxford,  NC on February 21, 1930., the daughter of the late Harper C. and Clyde H. Jones. She is survived by three children: sons Ross and Michael Gray of Oxford, NC, and daughter Gale Gray Carter of Rolesville, NC., a stepdaughter Margaret Reinitz of Apex and stepson Harry Reinitz, Jr. of New Bern.

Also surviving are a sister Carolyn Sutton of Round Rock, Texas and six grandchildren: Michelle Campbell, Jeremy Gray, Jessica Gray, Jacobi Carter, Creighton Carter, Quincy Carter: grand step daughter, Sarah Myers and great grandchildren, Maci Gray and Haleigh Campbell, Hunter Campbell and Brooklyn Campbell. She was predeceased by husbands R. Park Gray and Harry W. Reinitz; brothers, Dan C. Jones and J. Milton Pruitt.

Peggy was an active member of Oxford Baptist Church where she served as a deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Adult Choir member and in various capacities of Women’s Missionary Union. She was also a member of the Saturday Book Club and a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

A graduate of Oxford High School, Peggy attended Mars Hill Junior College and subsequently was employed by the State Board of Education, Richmond, Virginia and later by the Granville County School System.  She also served two terms on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Baptist Foundation.

Omission of flowers is requested.  Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry of Oxford Baptist Church, PO Box 398 , Oxford, NC 27565.
