Shepaug graduate, sports enthusiast

WINSTED — Matthew Ryan Totten, 27, of Winsted, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 3, 2015.

He was born in Danbury on July 19, 1988, to Alexander Totten Sr. and Wendy Wildman. Matthew graduated from Shepaug Valley High School in 2006, holding the track and field record for the long jump. He continued as a sports enthusiast through his life, holding a special love for the Miami Dolphins.

Matthew had a contagious smile that touched every person who knew him.

Aside from his parents, Matthew is survived by two daughters, Leah and Kaylee Totten; siblings William Stahl, Alexander Totten Jr., Kristina Totten, Monique Moore and Kenneth and Kristopher Girard; grandparents both in Connecticut and Florida; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held in Matthew's memory on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Salem Covenant Church, 96 Baldwin Hill Road, Washington Depot, CT 06794.
