Mattie Ree Allen was born November 7, 1931 in Tallapoosa County to the late Odell and Mattie Culpepper.

 

Mattie Ree departed this life January 14, 2012 in Mobile, Alabama.

 

She was a member of Great Bethel Baptist Church in Alexander City, Alabama.

 

Mattie Ree was very devoted to all her family, friends, and neighbors. She was a very loving and giving person and always went out of her way to help others. She will forever be missed and cherished, especially by her family.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers; Elder L.M. Culpepper, Rev. Walter R. Culpepper, James Culpepper; Aaron Culpepper, and Calvin Culpepper; and four sisters, Hattie L. Lambert, Clara P. Vines, Sally Derozen, and Susie L Huntley.

 

Mattie leaves to cherish her memories four children: John Daniel Culpepper of Mobile, Alabama; Calvin Lorenzo Culpepper of Alexander City, Alabama; Willie Edward (Mickie) Allen of Alexander City, Alabama; and Pamela (Bennie, Jr.) Allen Ingram of Montgomery, Alabama; six special children: Nathan Wells, Linwood Wells, John Wells, Brenda Kelley, Murriel Saxton, and Amelia Whetstone; two brothers: Rev. Neal Culpepper of Alexander City, Alabama and Rev. Bobby Joe (Anne) Culpepper of Detroit, Michigan; two sisters: Annie Ruth Anderson of Bluefield, West Virginia and Alice Mae Howard of Alexander City, Alabama; ten grandchildren: Endia Young, Demetrius Young, Kimberly Brooks, Junior Culpepper, Corey Culpepper, Natalie Copeland, Aaliyah Copeland, Mingkel Ingram, Miekah Ingram, and Mykel Ingram; a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
