Appreciation From the Ngwa Family!
Dear friends and family,
On behalf of my entire family I would like to thank you for the love, support, generosity, and prayers you bestowed on us upon the passing of our sister Nchang! Nchang was laid to rest in Mambu, Bafut on the 23rd of November, next to our beloved father and grandmother. We thank God for granting us journey mercies to and from her funeral! So many of you extended yourselves in ways unimaginable during this difficult period to make it possible for us to bear our untimely loss emotionally, logistically, and financially. For fear of unintentionally leaving names of individuals out, I would like to focus this email on thanking groups only and use personal calls, face-to-face visits and other methods to express our gratitude to individuals.
Like the old African adage goes, it takes a village to raise a child! I believe it takes a village to lay one to rest too! Our “village” is large and extensive! To our geographic village, the Bafut-Manjong community, we thank you so much for your love & support during this period! To the Bafut-Manjong community in Dallas in particular, we thank you immensely for the love you showered Nchang at her wakekeeping with the emotional traditional dances you performed and other expressions of love. You make us proud to belong to the Fondom! To the Dallas-Arlington community in general who came out during this period and on the night of the wake, we thank you for your extreme generosity! How can we ever pay you back? We promise to always be there for you and in ways even more meaningful than we have managed to be in the past! To my “Low Key” Dallas sisters, thank you sisters, for your steady support! To the planning committee set up to plan Nchang’s wakekeeping in Maryland, how else could it have been possible for my family to execute a wake in a town none of us live in? Not only did you make it possible but you planned and executed the viewing, wake, and reception so flawlessly we are still in awe! We’re deeply indebted to you!!! Thank you also to the Akum community, the Bamenda Upstation “kids” and Sacred Heart “boys” who showed up in their numbers to the Maryland wake. Last but not least, to my Lesan sisters…like someone aptly said, the Ngwas are Lesans any way you slice and dice it…from generation to generation! We are proud to be Lesans and have considered it always to be a priviledge. Throughout this period, our Lesan sisters, you’ve demonstrated why we are so proud to be a part of you! It is impossible to thank you without tears rolling down our eyes. Our beloved Dallas Lesan sisters, you were there to pick us up, from the moment the awful news broke, to your seamless planning of the logistics of Nchang’s wake. Same goes to our Toronto Lesan sisters! Even before we got to Maryland our Lesan sisters in the metro area were already setting the planning wheels in motion for a beautiful funeral church service and reception that showed the world that Lesa is undoubtedly ONE sisterhood! When we got home, Lesans were there in their numbers to welcome Nchang home! Everywhere we turned, however way you sliced and diced it, our Lesan sisters, you were there for us…”Golden Girls”, “Nubian Queens”, ”‘Cool Ladies”, “Lacoeur’s Diamonds”, ““Vibrants”, thank you sisters, for your unconditional love & support!!!
We pray for all that you’ve done for us, that God will replenish your coffers exceedingly and abundantly beyond your wildest imagination! May you take the time during this holiday season to appreciate and hug your loved ones moreso than you’ve done in the past! Merry Christmas, happy holidays and safe travels to you this holiday season!
Love & Blessings
