Today you would have been 90!

God with his Grace, called you home 9 years ago and wiped away your tears, took away your pains and sorrows and received you within his loving arms.
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad!

"You must bear the cross or you will never wear the crown; you must wade through the water or you will never walk the golden pavement." -C.Spurgeon

You can shed tears that he is gone, or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Dad, Its been a year since you left us to be with Jesus...We miss you so much it hurts. I know you are in the loving arms of Jesus praising him as you walk the streets of Gold with your mom and dad and brother Lu.

I love you Dad. I know I told you many times when you were here. I miss your hugs.I always felt loved by you. Thank you for loving God and country and teaching me how important it is to do it.

Until we meet again at the pearly gates...I love you.

SMILE BECAUSE HE LIVED

You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he lived,

You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him,
or you can be full of the love that you shared,

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone,
or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn back,
or you can do what he would want:

Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

It's been 9 months Dad, and my heart still aches to think about you being gone. I wish so much that I would have done so much more for you, and spent more time with you, and loved you more than I did. Can't wait to see you again. Miss you so very much.

You have always been so dear to sit with in church or our visits to your home. You will be missed by all who got to know you. I will never forget that you always called me "Reba". So endearing. Bob and I loved enjoying Fellowship Dinners, sitting with you and my Mary. I am sure you will be singing louder than all souls in Heaven! We have been Blessed knowing you.

I love you so much Dad. Never appreciated you and Mom enough. Thank you for all you have instilled within me, at my birth. God is awesome and I know that you're there with Him. “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Corinthians 15:55 NIV)
Dad received the victory today! O' Victory in Jesus, my savior forever!

Grandpa, I have fought all day to find the words to describe how I am feeling right now. I miss your voice and your smile, I miss watching how you lit up whenever Hunter ran over and gave you one of his great big hugs. When I think about you two very important memories come to mind. When you always used to take me to the nursing home with you when I was a young child to visit the elderly, we played cards with them, sang, with them and read God's word to them. The other memory is and I can still hear you saying it now is when you called me your favorite granddaughter which always made us laugh cause I was your only granddaughter. I know that you are with God right now and waiting for all of us to join you.  Love You Grandpa

Family Values

January 3, 2014

I remember as a kid going to Church and Grandmas every Sunday to visit Grandma and Grandpa and my Aunt Adiline and our six cousins. The adults always greated each other with hugs and always seemed to have plenty to laugh and talk about.

Later Dad would come out play baseball or basketball with us. There was always plenty of laughter some arguing but plenty of  hugs after the game was over.

Through these times I learned how important it was to have God in my life and that Family always helps family! We were going to church with dad if we wanted to or not. But as we got older and and we began a personal relationship with Jesus we continued to go to the same church with dad and helped each other through all the tough times and rejoiced as God blessed our family.

If I learned nothing else from my dad, I learned how important it was to be a prayer warrior! When i would listen to Dad lead the congregation in prayer after taking prayer requests...He at time prayed with such heat felt tenacity...he began to weep and sob as he brought the requests before the throne of God ...humbling himself before God ... then Praising and Glorifying God for his wonderful love....I miss you dad. I am thankful to God for you in my life. I love you ... and am confident that you are in the congregation with the saints in heaven...Thank you Father God and Lord Jesus

Disco Mike

January 1, 2014

On the third Sunday of every month our church group from Trinity Assembly of God Church goes to minister to the folks at the Manor Nursing Home.  There was a time when Mike Pastina was part of our group.

Mike loved to be there praising the Lord and he knew a lot of the folk there at that time. After greeting each person individually, Mike would get going singing and praising Jesus whom he loved so much. He would do a dance that you would swear was right out of Saturday Night Fever. He would get moving and pointing his finger to the ceiling. Boy, could he move at his age!  Everyone enjoyed MIke very much. We were proud to have him as part of our group.  So he lovingly earned the name from some of us as "Disco Mike".

A few years passed and Mike's health was failing him.  He ended up being a resident of the Manor himself.  He always came in his wheel chair to hear our group sing on the third Sunday.  When we would ask how Disco MIke was doing he would always smile at the name and then tell us he was doing ok.  I think he liked the notoriaty.

Now Disco MIke has gone home to be with his sweet Jesus.  He will be greatly missed but we know that Disco Mike is singing and dancing in that Heavenly Choir in the sky. Dance on Disco MIke we love and miss you.
