Michael E. Stockinger, 65, of Franklinville, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013, as a result of heart failure. Mike was born in Phila., PA to the late Emory (Jake) and Lillian Stockinger. Mike graduated from Woodbury High School, class of 1966, and attended Rutgers University. He served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1969-1971, honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. To say that Mike was an avid golfer is an understatement. Sunrise was always his favorite time to tee it up. He won a few club championships, but he never bragged. His work ethic was impeccable. Having recently (semi) retired, he was the co-owner, along with Steven Smith, of N/C Paving, Inc. in Berlin, NJ. He loved animals and was a voracious reader. He never missed “Jeopardy” on TV!

Mike is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 21 years, Diane (Bunting) and was “Daddy” to his cocker spaniel, Kelsey. He also leaves behind his brother Barry Stockinger, Sr., of Deptford, NJ; nephew Barry, Jr. of Kansas; Lauren (Warren) Willis and great nephews Alston and Joey; the Wirth family of Indiana; Aunt Dot Scheingold of PA.  Cousins Diana (Bob) Ketterer of PA; Aida (Ed) Bryant of NY; Penny and Patrick Barry of MI. Also survived by mother-in-law Carole Hill; brother-in-law Joe (Sharon) Bunting; Sister-in-law Pam (Mike) Mokienko and several nieces and nephews, as well as 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew. In addition to family, Mike had many friends through business and golf, and truly loved his extended families; Bob Keeley and family, Bob Walker, Paul Avis and family, Joanie Klinger, John (Chan) and Starr Tyrell, Don Spadel, George Harley and Ron Roberts.

As per Mike’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 11am-3pm at the Star cross Banquet Hall, 4231 Tuckahoe Rd., Franklinville, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be sent to the Franklin Twp. Public Library, 1584 Coles Mill Rd., Franklinville, NJ 08322 or to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ 08312.

Uncle Mike was a forever part of my life. The holidays and presents, the dinners and conversations. The smartest man I have ever met and the most calm soul. The mediator and strength of our family will always be remembered and adored. Alston will golf in your memory forever and we were so blessed for our time with you and the good that you gave us. Stay "Cool" Uncle Mike. Love you<3

From the first time I hopped in Mike's truck to look at a parking lot and saw his "current read" on the passenger seat, I knew we were kindred spirits and would be friends. We talked of many things; books and life, and laughed (he had a great "chuckle"). I will remember him always and cherish the time I got to know him. To all of Mike's family and friends I send my deepest condolences.
