His Life
July 12, 2013

Mike was born in Neillsville, Wisconsin in 1948.  He grew up in Phoenix, AZ, Lawrence, KS, Lenexa, KS and Overland Park, KS.  Mike graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School, Shawnee Mission, KS in 1966.

After high school Mike became a land surveyor and started working for local surveying companies.

Mike married his high school sweetheart in 1967 and moved his family to Ingleside, TX in 1979.  Mike worked for surveying companies in the Corpus Christi area, served on the Ingleside city council and eventually opened his own surveying business, Haas Surveying.

Mike was one of only a few people who was a Licensed State Land Surveyor and a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Texas.  Mike worked hard to gain these licenses and was proud of the work he did as a land surveyor.

Mike loved to collect coins and read encyclopedias and historical documents and stories.  He loved to share everything he learned with others.

Mike grew up with dogs and always had dogs in his life. He greatly loved his dogs, especially Chloe, Daphne, Jasmine, Crissie and Katie.

Mike was immensely proud of his son, Dr. Michael E. Haas, M.D.  Although Mike was a man of few words, he loved his son and was proud of him and his accomplishments both in the U.S. Navy and as a medical doctor.

Mike is survived by his son, Dr. Michael E. Haas, M.D.; his mother, Mateel ("Teel") Haas;  his sisters, Teel D. Haas; Carla (Alan) Adams; and Janet (Kelvin) Shivers; his former wife, Charlene Haas; and aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nephews and a great niece.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward C. Haas, Jr.
